I was late for work several times because I forgot to set alarm, so I created this: DateDots

Background: I work in healthcare (also have a B.S. Computer Science) and my weekly schedule is never the same. Sometimes I work different shifts. I used to set my alarms to repeat every day, even when I wasn't working, so that I wouldn't worry about forgetting to set them. The problem was, my alarms rang on my days off in the middle of the week. Traditional alarms only repeat weekly. Then when I worked a different shift, I would have to remember to turn on alarms for that other shift. There were several times after my days off that I forgot to turn on my alarms, causing me to be late for work multiple times.

So, I decided to create an app to solve this problem and keep it easy to use. Since I know my schedule 1–2 months in advance, I was previously manually turning alarms on and off for my workdays and days off. With this app, I simply use the built-in tools to quickly import my schedule from an Excel sheet, and it schedules my alarms into a calendar (marked with colored shapes). If I work a different shift and want the same alarm routine before my start time, there's a feature called Timelines that copies the alarm 'template' to a different event time. That way, my 2nd shift alarms look just like my 1st shift alarms, only at different times.

I haven't been late for work since, and I don't have to worry about remembering to set my alarms anymore. It also includes a feature that reminds you to add your next calendar if you forget to upload your new schedule towards the end of the current one.

I should say this though, if being late would genuinely cost you, keep a backup alarm on something else too. I still do.

If you have any questions or ideas, I would like to hear them.
