This alarm might actually work for you

Yes it's another alarm app, you can click off the post now.

I made this retro alarm to add more than enough friction to get out of bed. It has some cute pixel art minigames I made from scratch. Play the game for 30 seconds without dying and only then will it turn off the alarm. There's no snoozing, either you beat the game or you don't.

I'll take any feedback for making it better or more effective.

New game hopefully coming out every month.

Why do we automatically wake up exactly 5 minutes before our morning alarm goes off?

This happens to me so often and it’s honestly kind of spooky. I’ll have an alarm set for 7:00 AM, but my eyes will just snap open at 6:55 AM naturally. Is there an actual biological mechanism or internal clock that triggers this, or is it just a weird psychological coincidence?

I only pick up my phone at night to use the torch, but it shows me the time and that's the night gone

So the standard advice for waking up at night is don't look at the clock, and thats it's right, the second i know it's 3am i'm doing the "4 hours left" math and i'm awake for good.

But here's the thing nobody accounts for. i pick up the phone to use the flashlight to go take a piss, and that's literally it.

Im not scrolling etc... the lock screen clock is right there when i grab it. so i've seen the time without ever meaning to.

I know its simply "just use a real torch" or "leave the phone in another room." sure... but that's the whole problem, it is genuinely hard to not reach for the thing that's right there and does the job. That's the honest reality.

Personally I got annoyed enough that i built a small open-source app for myself to track how often this happens, and it turns out it's a lot more than i thought.

But tracking it after the fact doesn't fix it, no app can hide the system clock, that's an OS thing.

I'm sure I'm not alone in this one.. pretty sure this happens to others...and would you want a "hide the time till morning" toggle in bedtime mode if it existed,

I tried raising a request on Android/google issues, and it got flagged as an Android "help" request by the bots,

Atleast samsung oneUI should really consider this and so should other apps,

this would help keep track of folks who don't really use a sleep tracker the whole night, just a passive way to track (just like digital wellbeing)

[DEV] I built an alarm app with mini-games to force heavy sleepers out of bed. Looking for feedback!

Hey everyone,

Since this whole subreddit is dedicated to the daily struggle of actually getting out of bed, I thought I'd share something I built to solve this exact problem. I've always been a terribly heavy sleeper. I hit snooze way too many times and end up rushing every morning. To fix my own problem, I decided to build an alarm clock app where you have to play and win mini-games to turn the alarm off. I tried to do something more unique than other alarm apps out there. If anyone searches such app, you can give a try to my app maybe

I released it a couple of months ago on the Google Play Store. Since I developed it alone, I’m sure there are things I missed or could do better. I would love it if you guys could try it out and give me some honest feedback.

What features should I add? What games would you recommend me to add? Are the games too annoying or just annoying enough to wake you up? Let me know!

Currently, 15 mini-games are available for alarms.

Play Store link:https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.machover.wakequest

Thanks in advance for your help!

Sleep 10-13 hours a day, and always waking up with prolonged sleep inertia, why?

Idk what it is, but I tend to sleep more than normal, I’ve done sleep test for sleep apnea but that was ruled out. And I just cannot figure out why I’m always sleeping/feeling groggy when waking up.

25M and try to work out 4-5 days a week

I would say I’m fairly healthy except for my sleep pattern, it’s killing me slowly and I cannot figure out why I’m always waking up like this.

Yes sleeping 10-13 hours is one thing

But part of it is just because I tend to wake up with the groggiest feeling. It usually last 2-3 hours and, Especially if I wake up earlier than 11am, I tend to not remember anything in those first few hours. Maybe a little but my brain is usually running on overtime in those moments. Sadly I end up falling back asleep because it’s just too annoying to stay awake. I’d say it is sleep inertia that is prolonged, but it genuinely feels like it could also be something else?

I built an AI alarm app that literally insults me until I get out of bed (Built with React Native). Need feedback!

Hey everyone,

I’m a solo dev who is a ridiculously heavy sleeper. Standard alarms just become background noise to me, so I decided to build something a bit more... aggressive.

I recently launched Roast Alarm. Instead of a generic chime, the app uses AI to literally roast you and judge your life choices until you actually get up and turn it off. It’s brutal, but it works. I built the whole thing using React Native.

Since I’m doing this completely solo with exactly zero marketing budget, getting those first few users and reviews is tough. I’d love for this community to try it out, try to break it, and let me know what you think.

These are the links to get it: iOS - Android - Website.

To say thanks, I made a bypass code ROASTKOL2026 so you guys can bypass the paywall and test the full features for free. Let me know if the React Native audio engine crashes on your devices!
How to redeem the code:

  1. Download Roast Alarm.
  2. Go to Settings (top right gear icon).
  3. Find the STANDARD ACCESS section.
  4. Tap the logo next to it 5 times consecutively.
  5. Enter the code in the hidden field!

If you find any bugs, please let me know. And if it actually manages to wake you up, a kind review on the Store would mean the world to me. Thanks!

Alarmy danificou o hardware do meu celular

Been struggling a lot with sleeping and waking up on time.

For past 10-12 days, this is happening, no matter how early or late I go to bed, I just wake up after 10am. I have tried going to bed early around 10pm , but I only fall asleep around 12.30 to 1am. So i decided like, let's go to bed around 1am, then I fall asleep soon, but I wake up late. I kept my phone out for 3 days, same result. It's like I hate going to the bed, but when day sets in I hate waking up overall. I feel like a different person while asleep, like I can sleep over my consequences, throw at me whatever like that. My final exam is in 2 months. I have to review topics and looks like my sleep is my first enemy in the last minute..

Is there a watch or device that forces you to get up but can’t be powered off?

Something that functions similar to the IOS app alarmly but cannot be bypassed by powering off the device. With an internal battery that cannot be removed. And would require some kind of task like scanning a barcode or taking X amount of steps to shut off.

Welcome the sunrise every day

Hi,

I like to welcome the sunrise in the morning, even in summer when I have to wake up early, to express my gratitude for the coming day.

I recently created a small website, entirely free, where you can follow the sun rise across the world and say hello to other viewers.

I don't know if my post will be considered as commercial and removed. I would however be grateful to anyone sending a "Ohayo" from my website.

I wish you a nice and peaceful day.

QR alarm app recommendations that TEMPORARILY turn off alarm?

I have trouble waking up, it's a big issue in my life, I keep snoozing, etc etc.

The QR code / barcode apps that require you to go somewhere else to turn off the alarm are exactly what I need, but the issue is I have roommates and carrying a loud alarm throughout the house is certainly a bad idea.

Is there an app with an alarm that temporarily turns off the alarm while I go to where the thing to scan is (and turns on again if I don't scan it)? I'm on Android if that helps. Anything is appreciated!!

Alarm clock app

I like to snooze my alarms and I’ve tried the apps like alarmy but I tend to end up deleting the app and/or powering off my phone and going back to bed. I’m wondering if there are any apps out there that can get around that. I also have a physical alarm clock but I will just turn it off and go right back to sleep.

I made an app where you can put money on your morning goal. Then, get out of bed and show up and it stays yours. However, if you hit snooze and stay in the bed, you lose money. You can than win 2/3 of the lost money through future commitments.

The classics are "Five more minutes." or 'll go tomorrow." Tomorrow always wins because it's free. That's why I built Commity

  1. Stake a small amount on a daily goal (gym, run, library — wherever you need to be)

  2. Pin your spot on a map

  3. Show up, tap "I'm here" → GPS confirms it → $0 charged

  4. Skip the day → you're charged

  5. But you get a comeback: 5 check-ins across 5 weeks and __2/3 comes back__

That 6am alarm hits different when skipping actually costs something. It's not about guilt - it's about giving your brain a real, immediate trade-off.

Free for 14 days, no card needed. After that, it's $0 as long as you get out of bed and go.

Website: thecommity.com

Available on the iOS.

I can't make myself get up in the morning.

Hello, i have been waiting a month and a half for the local institution to assign me my psych appointment. This is ruining my life

A year-two ago, i have been able to wake up even if I didn't sleep 8-10 hours. Sometimes you have to get a project done and that's how things work. I prefer doing things later in the day because that's when im home alone.

I have used alarmy, with various or multiple tasks like scanning a qr code in the furthest room away from mine, shaking my phone, doing math. Nothing gets me to wake up. I think im in a state of sleep inertia when that happens and I don't know how to explain it but at that moment, it feels like I don't have thoughts. Like im a doll someone is moving just so i can turn off my alarm. Besides alarmy, i have a physical alarm clock, and a basic alarm on my phone. While in sleep inertia, i am able to turn off the second alarm in alarmy by typing a long sentence, then turn off all of my upcoming alarms. I don't know why i do that.

I wanted to mention that i have also had situations where i fall asleep in the train, again not a thing i want to do. I have ended up missing my station twice. It's uncontrollable like i unironically have to hold my eyes open with my hands or stand the whole 2 hours so I don't fall asleep, even if in doing something like drawing or doing a crossword. I am not like this in other situations.

I take zoloft 50mg, but as far as i noticed it doesn't have any connections to my problem. It's a big problem for me and nobody gets the fact that i DON'T want to go back to sleep. Everyone including my mom calls me lazy and scolds me that i need to be "more responsible" it's exhausting.

What’s the smallest action that actually gets you out of bed?

I’m trying to stop thinking of “getting up” as a full morning routine.

Some days the idea of journaling, exercising, cleaning, studying, etc. is too much, so I’m testing a smaller rule:

Do one physical action that breaks the loop.

For me today it was just sitting up and putting both feet on the floor before touching my phone.

It sounds tiny, but it worked better than trying to motivate myself into a perfect routine.

What’s the smallest action that actually helps you get out of bed?

30 days challenge for myself to fix my sleep schedule

As the body reads I'll try to sleep at 11:00 P.M. and wake up at 7:30 A.M. for 30 days straight and keep updating you all about eveyday in edits of this same post about problems I face and what quick fix I find for the problem. The reason I'm doing it cause I've been sleeping at 6 and 7 A.M. and waking up at 2:00 -3:00 P.M. this is happening for last 5 years and I'm going to fix it.

Also I want others too join me on this journey. And to avoid spamming on this subreddit we'll edit our comments everyday of this same post. Let's see how many friends we've on the other side.

Edit 0: So i forgot to introduce the rules. We'll follow this military technique : https://youtu.be/_-ml78klt6M

And thumb rule is we'll always keep our device 4-5 steps away from us before going to our bed to sleep. And just resist the urge to not touch our device when unable to sleep. When the you can't resist the urge just imagine about- what did you do your whole day in great detail, make the animation in your head. And there's one more thing I've got to say always give yourself an hour of buffer time before the sleep time. For example right now I'm going to sleep so I've given myself and hour of buffer time i.e. from 11:00 P.M. to 12:00 A.M. to relax my whole body and mind (for me it's focusing on my breath ) before sleep. That's all I'm going to say and going to sleep Good Night y'all will update you tomorrow morning.

Edit 1 of day 1 : Man didn't knew going to sleep and waking up suppose to be this hard. Anyways I was rolling on my bed unable to sleep so I just did pushups, squats, and burpees till failure to just tire me out. And this works so well that after 20-25 of doing these (I don't remember precise cause I'm not allowed to touch my device) and I sleep like a baby. And wake up at 8:30 A.M.. Total hours of sleep I've is around 5 hours i know these are too short but as for someone who used to sleep at morning 6:00 A.M. and wake up in afternoon . I'm happy and surprised of my progress to sleep this early (around 2:30 A.M.). That's the report from my side now can you share your progress so that we can keep each other accountable :) .
