How do I ACTUALLY learn what's a safe throw?

I've been playing these games in a serious way since i got back into madden with madden 17.. I've never struggled this much with passing. I don't want to be one of those people that just says wahhh too hard.. this issue I'm having over this first weekend is all I've been able to do is figure out what DOESN'T work in this game any more.

I don't even mind the part where I'm throwing six INTs a game because i keep assuming i'll win presses.. that parts fine..i just feel like an absolute moron because im using ohio state and getting the tar beat out of me on All American.. and honestly.. the only change in varsity is that im getting more bump offs and less defenders jumping routes.. im still not making good reads.

thats about it.. i also don't care if the patch the game.. im fine with hella tight coverage all the time.. i'm just genuinely frustrated i don't know what the answer to the test is.. Texas route is dead.. flat route is dead unless its an RPO.. so whats left now that coverage actually functions other than just never throw the ball again?
