How’s the area around AVA Fort Greene/ DTBK?

Thinking of moving from Hell’s Kitchen to Brooklyn/ JC to save some rent expenses.

This building looks great but not sure if the area around is safe or not. We are a couple in early 30s planning a family soon. Would love perspective on safety and general vibe in the area.

If you have any other building recs pls do share!!

Unable to decide on living in downtown JC vs Hells Kitchen for financial savings

Husband and I make ~550k HH income combined. Need to upgrade to a 2bed this year because parents/ guests visit and we are planning a family too.

Renting a 2b2b in midtown west (where we currently are) is 6500-7k from the units we have been seeing.

If we move to exchange place/ grove st we would get a much nicer apartment for 5500. Apart from rent there will also be tax savings ofc.

We usually go out in UWS/ west village/ Central Park. Tbh we go wherever we want because connectivity isn’t an issue once we make the 10-15 min walk to the trains.

We don’t know what we will miss out on if we move to JC. or what we are gaining by being in Manhattan. The answers usually are “the vibe” of Manhattan.

What makes you stay put in the city? Any perspective would be helpful as we make our decision.

Edit - we are in early 30s. Not that much into nightlife anymore. Our friends are all over the city. Our offices are around penn station. So PATH to herald square isn’t that bad

currently at T2 post T15 MBA. TC around 230k

offer from a financial services co -- 200k base, expecting 15-20k annual bonus, 25k sign on bonus

i'm interested in financial services and a potential exit to fintech or start something of my own. the role is not a direct manager role btw. its titled manager but still an IC. good WLB. 40 hours give or take. compared to 60-80 right now. promotion will be slower ofc. if i stayed in consulting another 6 months and became manager i could exit at a much higher pay but tbh i am exhausted of the stupidity of this job too. still want to get this community's pov.
