Should I go analog?

I play both bass and guitar and that HX Stomp XL is basically my sound for all occasions. It surely stays in my arsenal because it's simply irreplaceable in terms of versatility and experimenting potential. As I play primarily bass in a metal band, when it comes to building a chain appropriate to the genre, pedals are... just better. Preamps are punchier, distortions are juicier, compressors... I finally feel and hear those. And GAS, of course, shouldn't exclude that.

My home setup is HX Stomp going into an active speaker or headphones, at rehearsals and gigs we use in-ears. So I do not really hear a ✨proper✨ bass sound that often.

Please help me decide between these two or maybe suggest your solution to the problem:

  1. I learn to get a better tone out of the current setup* and maybe buy a cab+power amp/combo to enjoy a trve bass sound.

  2. I build an analog chain for metal sound. Tuner > comp > dist > eq > preamp, something like that.

* - worth mentioning I've already spent countless hours tweaking the knobs and watching Youtube guides.(you can still send some good ones)

** - nvm the grammar, I'm not a native speaker
