Getting denied shifts on exchange

So twice now I've tired to pick up shifts to work more hours and twice I've been denied. I'm a cashier, I'm almost at my 90 days, I'm never late, always come in when they ask. They even want me to be a head cashier. My friend in lumber got denied a shifts too. They say it's busy season, people always call out or want to give up shifts. But they aren't allowing part time people to work more then 27hrs now. This week I'm only scheduled for 19.15 and they still denied me the shift.

Full-time

How hard is it to get full-time. My friends who work in MET told me I won't have any trouble getting full-time due to how reliable I am and how hard working I am. I'm a cashier though and my coworkers have said you can't get full-time being a cashier. I also know that I can't transfer to another department til I've been there a year... I can't live off of part time hours.

Who does the hiring for MET

When i applied for HD Met was one of the positions I applied for. I found out that store side doesn't do the hiring for Met.. although my store doesn't have a current opening for Met since nobody wants to leave once they're one. But eventually I'd definitely like to be on Met. I'm just wondering how the crew gets hired , my bestfriend is on Met at our store but is sure who do the hiring now.

I was asked to be a head cashier

I got hired at the end of April, my leader and one of my head cashiers are impressed by how good I am for being so new. Also I'm the most reliable cashier they have, other then one other girl. She wants the head cashier position but our lead says she's good but misses days due to her health issues. I was told they won't want to let me transfer to a new department for awhile if I take the position. I know it's a dollar more a hour, if it can get me more hours then I get now as a part-time cashier I might take it.

Part Time Cashiers Hardly Getting Hours.

When i got hired I said I had open availability. They said if I didn't have open availability then I'd be most likely to only get 12hrs a week. I thought I'd be getting 28 hours a week since that is the max part time can get scheduled. I didn't know we didn't get holiday pay if we hadn't been there 90 days . Also I thought I was being paid $21 I believe that's what our Assistant Manager said the position paid but I'm only making $20.

Our DS had been out so the person covering them had cut everyone's hours down. 2 weeks in a row I got 12hr and 12.30hrs.. I can live off of that. 😢
