Season 2 feels like a big step up to me so far.
I caught up with the show in the last week because I was intrigued by the big twist which I already knew about going in. The first season though I'd only rate around a 6/10. Stylistically the handheld camera and slightly disjointed editing seemed as if it was trying to emulate The Man Who Fell to Earth directed by Nicolas Roeg which is obviously a big influence on the show, but in practice it felt unfocused and slightly disorienting and the actual lighting was kinda flat and not cinematic. The writing was a bit vague too, in terms of the mystery and the characters.
This season the framing is more composed and the lighting has more contrast and shadows, the mystery feels more particular and has a sense of verisimilitude with more detail. Hopefully it keeps it up.
