Moisture chamber glasses UK

I work in an air conditioned office 3 days per week and need some glasses to help alleviate the dryness it causes.

I am wondering where to start with getting moisture chamber glasses? I would prefer to see an optometrist to ensure they fit correctly but would order online if needed.

Severe evaporative dry eye with corneal scarring at 27 – desperate for advice on stopping it getting worse

Hi everyone

I’m 27 and from the UK, and I’m hoping someone here has been through something similar because I’m feeling completely overwhelmed.

For a long time I was told I had severe aqueous-deficient dry eye but I saw an opthalmologist yesterday who completely changed the diagnosis. She believes my dry eye is actually evaporative dry eye caused by meibomian gland dysfunction likely triggered by taking isotretinoin (Accutane) when I was 18. She has prescribed doxycycline 100 mg daily for 6 months and Ikervis (ciclosporin 0.1%).

My Schirmer test was normal so tear production itself doesn’t seem to be the issue but TBUT is zero?

I have constant dryness and grittiness, burning and irritation constantly, fluctuating vision throughout the day. Symptoms are much worse in air-conditioned environments and after long periods using screens (I can’t really avoid this due to work)

I’m trying to stay hopeful, but it’s incredibly difficult knowing this may have started from medication I took nearly a decade ago, although my symptoms did start back in 2021 now that I look back. I’m scared it’s never going to get better and only worse from now.

I’d really appreciate advice from anyone with experience:

Has anyone developed severe MGD after isotretinoin?

Did doxycycline help, and how long did it take before you noticed a difference?

Has Ikervis helped anyone with predominantly evaporative dry eye?

What treatments have made the biggest difference?

Are there treatments or lifestyle changes you wish you’d started earlier?

This condition has affected my work, my quality of life and my mental health far more than I ever imagined. I’m willing to try anything.

Thank you for reading

Tear deficiency. Private Uk ophthalmologist recommendations?

I currently suffer with chronic Aqueous Tear deficiency caused by DED. It has caused recurrent corneal erosions and filaments on my cornea. My NHS ophthalmologist is incredibly rude and dismissive, just saying it’s most likely myself causing it due to stress / worry. This is not true, my blood work is all over the place (deficient in iron, B12 and vitamin D. Abnormal calcium and protein levels, electrolyte levels and liver function). I really feel like this is caused by an autoimmune disease.

Can you recommend any private ophthalmologists in the UK that specialise in DED caused by autoimmune disorders? As I feel that would be my first step in getting my GP or eye clinic to take me seriously. This is ruining my life, I’m 27 F

Chronic dry eye for 3+ years. Tear film bubbles on my cornea almost every day. Any tips?

I have had chronic dry eye in my left eye now for 4 years. I go through stages where it flares up. At the minute, my eye is so dry it has caused erosion on my cornea and is struggling to heal.

I also always get these small tear film bubbles on my eye that seem to fall off after I blink a lot but they are so so painful.

I’m currently using Thealoz Duo Eye Drops and Ocufresh Carbomer Gel through the day then Hydramed Night Ointment in the evening. I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions for any other gels? My drops work well but my tear break down is so poor that I need a decent gel to help keep it lubricated longer.

I know this sounds a little dramatic but it is really starting to ruin my whole life. Work is a struggle, social events, holidays, everything. I have been referred to an ophthalmologist but live in the UK and the NHS has a long waiting list. What can I do in the mean time?

I have been having issues with my eyes for about 3 years now. I have phases where my eyes are so inflamed, dry and sore. I have light sensitivity and I also get small tear film bubbles on my actual cornea which just fall off after a few hours, but they are excruciatingly painful alongside the dryness. It is mainly only in my left eye. I have had no trauma/injury, I do not have MGD (confirmed by ophthalmologist), my inflammation markers are normal, bloods are normal other than usual iron/b12 deficiency occasionally. I used Thealoz Duo Eye drops which are preservative free. I have been confirmed to have evaporative dry eye aswell.

My eyes get 10x worse when I am at work as I sit directly under air conditioning vents, when outside in the wind or in warm stuffy spaces. It is getting to the point where I am struggling to work (I work at a computer in an office), I am cancelling all social events because I am in such pain. I am currently going through a flare up, which usually lasts months, and am struggling so bad.

I have been referred to opthalmology, but I live in the UK and the waiting lists are months long. I am concerned that this is affecting my vision and wonder if I should try and get a private appointment sooner?

Is this Uveitis? Or something different

SPOILERS

I have just finished watching the documentary on Netflix and am so baffled at 1)

  1. Caroline’s despicable decision making abilities considering her level of educatio

n. She was clearly high on drugs and alcohol all weekend then heading to work in a CORONER’S office on a Monday morning?! 2)

  1. The fact that Sandy, after having finding out she was betraying him, literally trusted her again?

He was arrested days after he disclosed the location of Tony Parsons’ body to her and his brother even questioned why the police turned up and knew her name. Then when the police found the body and he was notified by a friend, he STILL didn’t realise. I mean that estate is absolutely massive and he had told her not weeks before where the body was, there is no way they would have found him so quickly by chance. Then after finding out she planted the marker, he continued his relationship with her. She was so blatantly interrogating him on the recordings about the murder. Asking about the bike and where it was etc. How could he be so blind? What could genuinely posses him to trust her again?

I am not at all suggesting that all of her efforts weren’t the catalyst in their conviction, but how stupid can you be?

I am curious if any locals to the area know if they continued their relationship whilst he was in prison at all? Or even anything about rumours of their involvement at the time? The dynamic of their whole relationship is astonishing to me, especially when they had know eachother weeks before this all began.
