Worried about leaving for college

Hi everyone! This is definitely not as big of a deal as I’m making it, but it’s been on mind and I want to vent! I’m a senior student and two months ago we brought home the cutest schnauzer, Lucy. She’s super attracted to me and I love her dearly, but I have to leave in August for a week to two weeks at a time for school. She’ll have my family with her.

Today is the first night I’ve been without her (helping out a friend) and my mom texted saying she’s been looking around the house for me and crying.

I can’t help but feel so guilty that I won’t be there with her for a week to two for three months! I’ll be back home in December for good and graduate early. I really don’t want her to forget the bond we have. Maybe I’m too concerned about it?

When did you start trusting your dog around the house?

Hi everyone! Our little Lucy is almost 5 months old now and she’s a doll. However being a puppy, we don’t trust her around the house alone as she’s still potty training and learning not to eat everything she sees. When we are at work, she’s at puppy daycare, or in the pen while we shop. When can I start to trust her?

Everyone’s saying she’s not a purebred

Her backstory is as follows: She’s a rescue from MN but came from somewhere in the Midwest from a not reputable breeder. I saw the pictures of her parents and they look total schnauzer. However… she grew up on whip cream and beef liver. Basically anything human food and had to learn how to eat kibble. She’s still not a big fan of kibble!

She came to the rescue because the owners couldn’t sell her and her brother in time for them to move to a different state. She came fully dressed in dog clothes.

So we’re buying a dna test! I’ll update this when we get the results in! Any guesses on what else she could be?

I will NOT be disappointed if she’s not a purebred schnauzer just to make that clear!!

So… when do they calm down?

I’ve got a new puppy and she’s definitely a diva. When she’s not napping, she’s either 1. Got the zoomies, 2. Jumping and trying to bite your hands, or 3. Trying to play with everyone and everything (barking). Don’t get me wrong, I love the schnauzer sass, but I’m waiting for her to be a lapdog 😂

Today is Gotcha Day!

We just took her home not too long ago! Any advice on how to deal with barking at anything at moves and her first bedtime? She’s checked out her crate but she didn’t like her playpen 😂

Thanks everyone! So happy to join the Schnauzer family!
