Tick Bite Tincture modeled off the work of Stephen Buhner

This is a small-batch herbal “Tick Bite” topical inspired directly by the work of Stephen Harrod Buhner and his book Healing Lyme.

This formula follows Buhner’s post-bite concepts, especially his ideas around immediate topical intervention after a tick bite using antimicrobial and immune-supportive herbs before deeper systemic issues have a chance to establish.

This particular spagyric elixir contains:

Japanese KnotweedAndrographisMineral saltsMaine spring water + alcohol extraction

One of the interesting parts of Buhner’s post-bite protocol was his recommendation to combine the tincture with bentonite clay into a poultice and apply it directly to the bite site for extended periods of time to help “draw out” the infection locally after thoroughly cleaning the area.

He also recommended using astragalus + Japanese knotweed internally for a minimum of 30 days following a known tick bite as broader immune support, especially in endemic Lyme regions. We’d also personally add Andrographis + Eleuthero root and potentially other herbs (sida Acuta, Houttinyana, berberine, oregano etc.) to address co infections.

According to Buhner’s writings, he believed rapid early intervention after a bite could dramatically reduce the chances of chronic tick-borne illness becoming established.

With reports of another awful year from ticks we just wanted to share some of what we’ve been considering. We use homemade herbal sprays as repellants but also purchase “cedarcide” as a broad spectrum insect repellant !

I have been fighting the effects of Lyme disease and the damage it does for over 10 years and don’t wish this on anyone.

(Just sharing herbalism + formulation work here this is not medical advice.)
