Inherited D861 DVR – Temporary password not working / Need advice on login issue

Hey everyone,

Just moved into a new home that came with an inherited Lorex D861 Series DVR. I’m trying to set up local access on a monitor with a USB mouse, but I’m locked out of the admin account.

Here is what I’ve done so far:

Reached out to Lorex support and got a 6-digit temporary password generated for my system date (06-12-2026).

Verified I'm trying to log in directly on the recorder box (not through an app or web browser).

Verified the system date on the monitor matches the date submitted for the code.

Power-cycled the unit to clear any silent account soft-locks.

Despite all of this, entering admin + the temporary code still fails to log in.

Has anyone run into this issue with the D861 series? Is my best bet at this point to open up the chassis and do a hardware factory reset via the motherboard button, or is there another trick to getting these temp passcodes to register?

Thanks in advance for any insight!

Course sequencing feedback — starting Spring 2027 + curious about research opportunities

Starting OMSA in Spring 2027 and planning to take one course per semester initially:

- Spring 2027: ISYE 6501 — Intro to Analytics Modeling

- Summer 2027: MGT 6201 — Business Fundamentals for Analytics

- Fall 2027: CSE 6040 — Computing for Data Analysis

My thinking is to start with 6501 to build a broad analytics/modeling foundation, use the shorter summer term for what I expect to be a lighter course, and take CSE 6040 in the fall. I already have a Python background, so I'm comfortable saving the computing course for later rather than using it as my introduction to programming.

Does this sequencing make sense, or would you restructure it? In particular, are there any pitfalls with taking MGT 6201 during the summer, or would you recommend swapping the order of these courses?

Separate question: research opportunities

I know OMSA isn't primarily a research-focused program, but has anyone managed to get involved with research while going through the program—whether through faculty, the practicum, or independently?

I'm interested in eventually doing more applied/research-adjacent work, particularly around analytics/data science, and I'm curious whether it's realistic to pursue something alongside OMSA or whether I'd be better off looking for research opportunities outside the program.

I'd especially appreciate input from people who are a few semesters into the program and have firsthand experience with the workload and opportunities.

Thanks!
