Macbook M4 Pro 14" + 4k Monitor

Hi there

Hopefully someone can provide some clarity, as I am confused.

Hardware: Macbook M4 Pro 14"
OS: Tahoe
Monitor: Asus XG32UCWMG - Connected via Ultra HDMI Cable - 3008x1692 - HiDPI
Dock: Caldigit TS4 - Connected via Thunderbot 4
Additional Monitors: 2x Dell - 1x connected via USB-C to the Dock and the other via a DisplayLink adapter connected to the dock

When I connect my Asus directly to my Macbook via HDMI with the dock not connected, I get 240hz at 4k - although I set the res to 3008x1692 with HiDPI (Better Display App)

As soon as I connect my CalDigit TS4 dock which has 2x Dell 2k monitors with 60hz attached, the max I get from the Asus connected via HDMI is only 120hz.

Shouldn't the monitor still be able to get 240hz as its connected to the mac directly via HDMI?

I also have a M4 Max where this works flawlessly

Thank you

Issue with Caldigit TS4 and 4k screen

Hi there

I am having a few issues with the Caldigit TS4 dock

- Hardware: Macbook M4 Pro 14"
- OS: Tahoe
- Monitor: Asus XG32UCWMG - Connected via Ultra HDMI Cable - 3008x1692 - HiDPI
- Dock: Caldigit TS4 - Connected via Thunderbot
- Additional Monitors: 2x Dell 2k - 1x connected via USB-C to the Dock and the other via a DisplayLink adapter (USB-c) also connected to the dock

- When I connect only the Asus monitor to the Macbook, I am able to get 240Hz; however, when I connect the Caldigit TS4 powering the other two monitors as well, the monitor then Asus only runs at 120hz. From the Menu, I can select full 4k 3840x2160 and it will then run at 144hz. If I select 3008x1692 at 144hz then HiDPI switches off - what is happening?

I also have a Macbook M4 Max 16" here I have a similar setup, except:
- 1x Asus XG32UCWMG connected via Ultra HDMI cable - working at 3008x1692 - 240h
- 2x Dell via the Caldigit TS4 dock - one usb-c and the other display port on the dock. I don't need a Display Link adapter because the 16" Max can nativly run three monitors.

But it still does not make sense why it will only run at 120hz at 3008x1692 and 144hz at 3840x2160? Also, the Macbook should be able to run it at 240hz with the Caldigit attached.

Summary

CalDigit Setup
- Asus Monitor connected to DisplayLink connected to USB-C port on CalDigit = 144hz
- 1x Dell connected to CalDigit via USB-C = 2160p at 60hz
- 1x Dell connected to CalDigit via DisplayPort = 2160p at 60hz

CalDigit + HDMI direct setup (Connect Asus monitor first before connecting CalDigit to Mac)
- Asus Monitor connected direct to Macbook via HDMI = 240hz
- Other dell monitors do not work via CalDigit at all - nothing shows up

CalDigit + HDMI direct setup
- Connect Dell monitors via Thunderbolt Mac first - both show up - DisplayLink and USB-C
- Connect Asus via HDMI, max 120hz at 3008x1692

Thank you

5V1 CFM vs S5 Max CFM

Hi there,

I have looked everywhere and cannot seem to find the answer anywhere.

I have a question, I have an S5 Max which is still going great but I am so frustrated with the mopping and the boundaries on the app. My daughter’s carpet sometimes moves and so do ours and so every other week the robot starts accidentally mopping part of the carpet and it’s starting to leave black marks. In addition, attaching and removing the mop every time you want it is also a pain in the ass.

My mother in law got the QREVO 5V1, which is awesome, it makes everything so easy! The only thing I don’t understand is that ours sounds like a regular vacuum on balanced mode pulling a lot of air and when its on Turbo its a serious jet turbine. With the 5V1 you can barely hear it and it feels like the fan basically does not run and hers is almost silent.

Even on turbo hers is much quieter than ours and I simply don’t understand how the S5 Max has only 2000 pascals of suction and the Qrevo 5V1 supposedly 18,500 pascals, yet you barely hear it, how can that be?

Also the S5 Max is still going strong which is one reason holding me back but also the suction makes no sense.

Anyone able to help?

Thank you!
