Can't tolerate any fat at all
Is it normal not to tolerate any fat at all at the start of a flare up? My flare up started two weeks ago, and I can't handle even the tiniest amount of fat. Not even a thin layer of butter on bread, it takes about five minutes, and then I get gas and loose stools. I know you're not supposed to eat butter and such, but I’m desperate to get some calories in since I’m already malnourished. I’m worried that I won’t be able to tolerate fat again, is it normal not to tolerate even a little fat with gastritis? Around when were you able to start tolerating slightly fattier foods again? I saw the doctor today, they always say I should just eat normally but in small portions and avoid the usual things they warn against. I try to explain that it’s impossible because everything just runs right through me as soon as I’ve eaten. I had blood tests done today and everything looked good, a stool sample shows that I don't have H. pylori. I'm scheduled for a gallbladder ultrasound soon, followed by a gastroscopy in 3–6 months. It worries me that I can't tolerate any fat at all, is it just me? or is this normal during an early flare up?
