mac syrup old vs new

i was maybe greatly exaggerating the reality of the situation for the reformulation for this particular shade, it arrived today, so here are my swatches! left is old, bought last september, right is the new one, arrived today!! also if it helps, old formula has a little sponge inside the cap, that's how you also be sure you picked correctly!!

honestly my cam made the both appear a bit more pinkish/reddish, it's due to settings probably, i tried lol

Help: Replacement for discontinued Maybelline Dream Radiant Liquid #10 porcelain ivory?

This is the first foundation I ever bought multiple times. Many foundations make my face look super dry, so I think it was the hyaluronic acid in this formula that worked so well for me.

I’m so sad it seems to be discontinued.

Does anyone have recommendations?

Help finding MLBB shade

Hi,

Thanks to everyone for posting their favorite shades. I've read through many posts but still have trouble finding MLBB lipstick. Pinks tend to be too warm, nudes wash me out or look darker than intended, and many mauves are too dark as well. I have tried Thanks, It's Mac, but that pound too brown on me. For reference, I am fair with cool undertones and green eyes. Any tips on how to find a shade? I see may favorites have been reformulated, which makes me hesitant to buy them. I hate purchasing things that I won't use. No preference on type of lipstick but I work in a fairly conservative field, so natural looking is preferred.

I wasn't sure from the rules if posting a photo of my lips without makeup is allowed. If it is, I am happy to do it.

Thank you!!

Cool toned lip liners

Heyy, looking for neutral/neutral-cool lipliners! Not too purple, not too pink, not too brown😅 I feel like everything turns neon pink or orange on my lips. Specifically looking for drugstore brands, like Maybeline, Essence, Catrice, NYX. I live in Northern Europe, so I don’t have access to Sephora etc.
Thanks in advance!

Purito 13 neutral Ivory cushion vs bb cream

Top: Purito Seoul Wonder Releaf Centella BB Cushion 13 neutral Ivory
Bottom: Purito Seoul Wonder Releaf Centella BB Cream 13 neutral Ivory
Photo taken outside on a cloudy day after oxidation. Both swatched with finger and blended out slightly on the right. As you can see, the shades are similar, but not fully the same. To me the cushion looks lighter, and the BB is slightly more orange.

about the new (warmed up) mac lustreglass

if anyone is as devastated as me about this particular Mac lipsticks line, they might just revert many shades if a lot of you take it to the customer service :D

politely, of course

GRAY contour

Give me the absolute grayest contours. Bonus for a stick.

I have the elf lightest contour which works well enough but I am looking for something even grayer, ideally a stick. It seems to blend a little warm?

I see the sheglam one but am suspicious. There’s Anastasia Beverly Hills but is it gray enough? Judy doll?

I recently got the Sacheu liquid contour in giving sass (it looked grayer than iconic). It looks pretty good but to me is a good bronzer color (warmer, but in a good way for a bronzer).

Alone Time dupe bc I’m tired of MAC’s shenanigans

So we all know Alone Time’s reformulation has ruined the gorgeous greyish mauve colour it was, and it’s annoyingly so hard to find something with the same muted, cool, brown, mauve but sheer and shiny texture.

Whoever’s decision it was up in corporate to reformulate, I just want to talk…..

Anyway, I thought to share an alternative/dupe I’ve been using since my Alone Time is nearing endangerment. It’s ARTDECO’s Hydra Care Lipstick in #46 Relaxing Oasis layered with LAKA’s Bonding Glow Lipstick in shade #202 Boy

I’ve left comparison swatches of the 2 by themselves vs Alone Time and then layered. The two alone are pretty close IMO, but just a hair off. Combined though, I reckon it’s hit the nail on the head?

Bonus is the formulas are very VERY similar to the OG Lustreglass formula so it gives the same feel and look on the lips.

You can get ARTDECO on Amazon and LAKA from Yesstyle.

~

Next on my conquest is to try LA GLACE’s Melted Sundae Lip Click in #18 Bourbon.

If you guys have any other alternatives, let me know!

Replacement for Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter in Pearl?

I know this is an older highlighter. I probably bought mine like in 2015, but it lasted a long time until my toddlers found it and smashed it up. I read that Becca Cosmetics was acquired by Smashbox back in 2021. I looked for a replacement for my favorite highlighter in the color pearl, but it appears that they don't make that color anymore. It's a cool-toned white shimmery highlighter. What would be the best product to replace it? I love that it looked pure white, because my skin is extremely light and it was the only thing to really stand out.

Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear 110C dries orange

I got a sample of this foundation and loved the shade and texture, but when I purchased the full size, the 110 "cool" shade is orange, especially once dried :/ Wanted to make a post in case anyone else gets fooled. It even looked so promising in the bottle!

I know the dried version almost looks like a match for me in the first photo, but my arms are more tan than my face so I included the second photo which is a swatch (still wet) on my collar bone/neck. It looks very orange irl. My undertone is olive neutral.

Has Missha BB cream shade 13 been discontinued?

Hi everyone,

Sorry if this has already been asked, but I couldn’t find any posts that cleared this up.

I'm about to run out of my Missha BB cream, and I’ve been trying to find shade 13 in the new version, but the lightest shade I can find anywhere seems to be 17.

Does anyone know if shade 13 has been discontinued?

Edit: I tried to add photos from Olive Young, but it won't let me. You can see on the product page that there's a new packaging for the red BB cream, and 13 is not one of the shades: https://global.oliveyoung.com/product/detail?prdtNo=GA260439350

Glowly pale skin. Body care reccs.

If you’re a pale skin girlie, I’d live to hear how you achieve a glowy body care routine (not face).

I have cool toned pale skin. I use scrubs, oils and etc but I feel like my skin still looks dehydrated, dull and just doesn’t have that glow factor when I wear shorts or tank-tops. Sometimes I think it’s not possible to achieve this look as a really pale girl 🫣

Undertone and foundation matches

Left is Fenty 125 (neutral) and right is tarte double beauty concealer 20 B (cool toned). Does the Fenty match and what is my undertone? I know the concealer is way off. Any foundation recommendations? Thank u

Elf halo glow mineral skin tint

I sometimes wonder if I’m pale enough for this group BUT I find it does help me so wanted to check in:

I have an AMAZING shade match in light neutral (4). It also wears perfectly for me and is a great spf.

Has anyone else had success with this?

I never hear anyone talk about it. I normally use expensive foundations but after using this, I finally know how it’s supposed to be 😂

Should I bother trying Tirtir 10C or just stay with what I've got? Or any other recommendations? Tirtir 13C & 13N swatches on very fair neutral (?) skin

I currently have two actual bottles of foundation in my possession: BE creative make-up 0C (aka coolest, fairest shade) and Douglas Serum foundation 1CL Porcelain (fairest shade available). Because they're usually the cheapest in higher end beauty retailers where you can try on properly (I can't test drugstore make-up properly), I tend to go for the retailers "housebrands" often, so BE creative for Ici Paris XL and Douglas collection for Douglas.

The BE 0C is 3 years old, and while it was always a tad dark it oxidizes even worse now to orange. The 1CL porcelain is pretty good, but I am not sure about the formula and feel so i look out for other ones.

There's been a lot of buzz about Tirtir, their shaderange, and Korean cushion foundations in general which I'd love to try out for a well-functioning higher coverage option. I could get samples from Little Wonderland (Dutch K beauty retailer, I'm in Belgium) and tried them out but...Oof. I could only get samples of 13N and 13C and too-dark shades I ignore.

13C is way too pink and dark, it oxidizes badly to something that looks almost coral on my very fair, muted sort of greyish skin. 13N is workable I think but a tad too orange yellow, so, opinions?

outside of my arm, (my arms are hairy lol): Top to bottomBE 0C, Douglas 1LC, Tirtir Red Cushion 13N, Tirtir 13C

Inside arm, same order ^

Face/jaw: T 13N, T 13C, D 1LC

The 13C matches my surface redness and acne, but covering that up is sort of the point xD

https://preview.redd.it/maedz273a6bh1.png?width=922&format=png&auto=webp&s=0dad093e50589f8c8fc2e07d69b5670264b2d3fd

Based on How 1LC is looking and it not being much lighter than 13N, I think 10C will be too light for me and the undertone still wrong (too pink/colorful)

(I know the lighting sucks, in RL 1LC def blends in best with the tirtir being similar on my jaw as on my arms)

Any recommendations for very fair, muted, I am pretty sure Neutral (I've had PCA done, soft warm-neutral shades are generally good on me, etc) tone that have a lightweight, non-irritating feel while higher coverage? Any thoughts about what could be good?

Which undertone direction should I go in?

Edited to fix formatting

I’m so sorry ik you all are going to get sick of me. But you have been so helpful! I’ve learned a bit about how to place and photograph swatches so I’m back with my four inexpensive foundations to try and figure out some criteria of what to look for shade and undertone wise. All four of these are so different yet most somehow work once blended out, leaving me completely confused! Don’t be fooled by my sneaky surface redness. I have significant rosacea on my face but also a little my chest, I want to match my foundation to my least red areas!

  1. AOA Luminous Skin Veil in L2. Very light and neutral. A little too light?
  2. A2O Labs Foundation in L1. Quite Olive/gray toned. My best match?
  3. Wet n Wild Tinted Hydrator in Fair. Similar to one but more pink/peach. Also a good match.
  4. Wet n Wild Tinted Hydrator in Fair Medium. Too dark and orange.

So other than that I need something fair to light and not orange, what can I learn from this? Currently my cart has primarily cool yellow and neutral shades -
About Face The Performer in F2O, L2N, L1N
Revolution Skin Silk in F5, F6.7NC, F6.2NC, F2.5NC
Glossier Stretch Fluid Foundation in VL3

I’d like to try Haus labs 030, 040 and 050 (maybe even 110) as well as Fenty 125, 130, 140, 150 but I’m a cheap makeup girl and the price tag is giving me major pause. If I can swatch them in person at my local Sephora I will but ideally I’d like something under $30.

Maybelline vinyl ink

I bought lipsticks for my mother’s birthday, and I think I’ve been given wrong shades. They wouldn’t let me test it so i just have to believe them (ik my mistake). I asked for brown shades stay ons and she handed me maybelline vinyl super stay shade keen. And when i got home and tested it out. IT WAS PEACH. And wasn’t what I imagined. So my mother has ivory fair skin with pink undertones, so how does this lipstick look with it?? (If u tried it). Please help me out or I am thinking about exchanging it. I am confused 😭

Suggestions for a finishing powder please

I’m hoping that someone can recommend some finishing powders please.

I’m fair and lean cool-neutral. I’m using NARS Mont Blanc foundation and it’s slightly too yellow for me.

In Revolution Beauty Skin Silk, F2 sits well.

I’m looking for a finishing powder rather than for baking.

Most recently, I’ve used Laura Mercier with the white lid. It’s fine but I’m wanting to try something new.

Any suggestions?
