Simulator Feedback on New Build

Simulator Feedback on New Build

We’re kicking off our new home build and I’m somehow lucky enough to have a wife that is supportive of building in a golf simulator in the basement. Attached are the general plans for the area and would welcome any feedback on how to improve it (the sloppy black box is a planned couch location). Some specific questions I have after trying to research options (thanks in advance for any help!):

  1. Will the computer get too hot under the stairs?  Leave the door open to it to allow more airflow? Any suggestions on PCPartPicker type PCs that I could build myself that will run nicely? I’m picturing running a on/off button over to the TV wall to turn the sim PC on.
  2. Would I do a hitting mat or just hitting strip with turf everywhere surrounding? The entire sim and gym are planned to be turf - any recommendations on turf in this case?
  3. How should the impact screen be sized? AI is recommending standard 16x9 but given the extra height and width, how do you make that work? I’m picturing doing the impact cushions on the side walls and ceiling

New build advice

The black and white is the original design but I’ve finally got the wife open to other options. I think we’re relatively set on the white but would be open to any ideas. It’s in the south and in an older 90s neighborhood with an HOA so definitely won’t be able to get too daring. The front face is north facing. Thanks in advance!

We’re starting the process of interviewing builders to build on a lot we own. The front running builder that seems great has requested a $15k+ deposit to finalize plans, prepare permits, and working with a designer. The thing is - we only have a ranged estimate with a $100k band on the house we want to build.

Is this normal? I understand there coming a time when a deposit makes sense, but is it reasonable before we even have real numbers in place?
