I’m not a huge channel by any means so I’m always looking for ways to get my content out there more.
I had a video go semi viral. It has a good CTR and retention. So I thought, you know what I’m gonna do the promotion thing and see what happens. I threw $40 at it and had it go for 10 days. In about 5 days I had amassed 1000 subscribers. Most all of them were coming from India, most all my views were from India, and my retention started to drop. I have since paused the promotion all together.
I have since posted another video and it has had a strong performance for the size of my channel. So I see that as a good sign. India left the chat. But I’ve been reading horror stories of others peoples experience with YouTube promotion so it got me concerned.
TL;dr
Did YouTube promotion on a strong video. India invaded. My next video was still strong and normal. Still concerned I screwed over my channel.
