NICECNC Bash plate?

NICECNC Bash plate?

Has anyone fitted a NICECNC bash plate to their tenere? Thinking just to get one of these as shipping will only be $10 instead of $100+ for me. I'm only using the bike for ADV touring, nothing extreme, and I'm sure I could have the linkage flap made up cheap enough locally. I'd maybe also consider the acerbis plastic one. Depends on compatibility with a center stand...?

Realistic oil change intervals?

Bought my T7 recently and previous owner was changing oil every 2k km, and it appears to have not even been used much offroad. This seems outright overkill to me when the manual says every 10k km. I seen the guys in Oz with the T7 that just passed 100k km were doing oil changes every 5k km as part of their standard fleet maintenance and while my bike will mainly be used on road, the roads here have a very fine dust on them so many people halve the manual stated oil change intervals.

I was doing oil change roughly every 6k km on my cb500x which is half of the stated interval so was thinking 5-6k km on the T7 keeping in mind the fine dust and excessively hot climate of Vietnam.

Keen to hear what others think

Converting to tubeless

Is this a suitable way to convert a rim to tubeless (yes, I'm aware the front doesn't have the safety bead and would also require a new rim).

Just wondering about this shops technique.

NICE CNC LUGGAGE PARTS

Has anyone tried and put to the test some of the NiceCNC parts to use? I'm particularly interested in these two/three luggage items. Did they stand the test of time?

I'm aware there's indestructible bomb proof stuff available, but I've got quite a few bikes in my garage already and want to keep the upgrades down to under 1k USD (I also have to factor in $12 per kg shipping fee to my house so importing expensive items gets even more expensive)

If I can get a good luggage system (I already have a mosko type setup & water proof duffle) then the bike is close to being ready for touring. I'm specifically not after the big baga frames with this bike.

New to me 2021 T7

Decided to take the plunge. Bike is immaculate and low miles. Slightly intimidating at moment just to sit on next to my 2021 cb500x even with its tall seat. T7 is going through a painful reregistration process so I can't ride it for a month yet. Gives me time to source a few parts. I really want to fit a center stand. Enduristan bar bag and Givi tank lock bag also come to mind. Looking at some NICECNC products also. Namely the rear luggage carry and side panels. Windscreen could probably do with a replacement shield also.

Yamaha OEM crash bars

OEM crash bars that are on the bike I'm considering purchasing. Seen there was some hate online due to them bending (although some folk state they are supposed to bend).

Any cause for concern due to them having one mount on the engine?

Owner said he dropped it once at a stand still and I didn't really pay much attention as I've dropped my cb500x 4 or 5 times without issue.

I appreciate crash bars up front for mountain 6l carry bags and it's 90% road use, maybe some nice open beach or plenty wide village trails not to worry about hitting shrubbery or branches etc.

Which tubes

Not sure which tubes folks are mostly using. Was researching tubeless and gave up looking at the price of a new wheelset. Perhaps and Outex kit one day, but will give tubes a go first I guess.

Then I read about someone saying heavy duty tubes followed by another saying lightweight only for various reasons, so I don't know.

I know on the klx250 dual sports I own, the tubes have generally melted stuck to the inner Tyre when I go to change them out occasionally and the Vietnamese mechanic is looking at me funny shaking his head and waving his hands pointing at it lol. Fortunately I always carry spares and can just throw him a new one.

And yes, it's a skill I need and plan to learn to do on my own

21 T7 thoughts

Looking to buy a 21 T7 with approximately 13k kms on the speedo. Oil changes every 2k km. Inspected and test ridden briefly. The bike checks out as a good purchase.

The owner has said he "raised the rear shock all the way up" and lowered the front forks (the top of the forks are flush with the clamps). He pointed out a dog bone change on the linkage also. I can't remember if that was shorter or longer.

Any thoughts on this overall modification? Is it done to make up for the low spring rate?

I'm able to sit on it with feet flat on the ground... just.

I'm looking to buy the bike primarily for mountainous road touring. 95% paved but with plenty of rough and broken stuff!!

Current ride is a Cb500x with an ohlins on the rear. It just doesn't have the long travel required to blast through rough stuff and even with a number of ergo mods, I'm still quite wrecked at the end of the day (minor back pain issue - sacroiliac joint pain).

There would be some light trail use on occasion, but nothing extreme. I retired from enduro riding a year ago and have no plans to return.

Not keen on spending thousands on suspension upgrades either. My current weight is 100kg...soon to be 90kg 👍

Any other issues with the 21 to consider?

What happened to trains? I've spent the better half of the past year focused on upgrading trains and now it's updated to something weird. I was going to buy the mayors pass this month, but shall quietly give it a miss due to this new silly update.
