Twisted Frequency New Zealand NYE

Twisted Frequency New Zealand NYE

Not strictly a psy festival, but that is no problem because there's a hell of a load of good stuff on there, psychedelic-wise, but then also just loads of other amazing music.

One of the best festivals I've ever been to in my life, and this could be the last one. Traveling over from England to hit this one up again because I can't miss it if it could be the last one.

Check it out if it's possible.

Social worker to barrister

Hello,

I am a social worker with around 10 years experience. I am falling out of love with the work not the profession. I have always enjoyed working in court and have I guess dreamed in a very idealistic way of being a barrister. It's very much not the world I'm from but there are barristers out there like Lucy Reed ( St John's) who I feel do so much more for the children's system than anyone in my profession. I've applied for a couple of PGDLs which I could only do with scholarships and am wondering if 1) my experience would make an attractive candidate for family and 2) is it just swapping one hard and stressful career for another.

Thanks for hearing me oot

How are you guys hanging on...

I qualified in 2017 and see social work as part of my identity. The work with children in care is something I will never find in parallel in my life. But.

I have bounced around local authorities as a locum post ASYE when I was being paid I think about 28k a year up north. I've rage quit on multiple occasions due to absolutely disgusting practice. I've given a exit interviews to ADs who have no idea what's happening in their own stall. And now I've (in my view) been pushed to whistleblowing on my service. Im heartbroken that our profession is being hollowed out in children and families and I just don't know if I can deal with the mismanagement of local authority work anymore, which is getting because I love the actual work but the day to day headbanging against a brick wall re decisions made about money being dressed up in quasi process terms or massaging of for example unregulated placements by putting a parent in without PWP reg paperwork in the dream that this makes it a regulated placement. I genuinely remember being so excited when I did my Masters, finding something that is incessantly and relentlessly interesting and deeply engaging. 10 years in (almost!) and I feel ready to leave, for good.

Miserable bank holiday post; dreading the aftermath of a nightmare end to last week. Thanks for reading and I hope you are all doing as well as you can out there.

CAFCASS

Hello
Anyone currently working for CAFCASS?
Got an interview but just read the reviews on Glassdoor and they are so massively awful.

Really shocked as it was always considered a good place to work but they seem to be trending down.

Any comments appreciated.

Hello
I'm fairly well versed in credit cards and balance transfers (having got into a lot of debt before and needing them to live day to day with B/T paying my rent etc).

I got outta that situation and just have one fairly small Credit Card with Virgin Money. I have done around maybe £1500 worth of balance transfers on a 12 month deal, not great but it is what it is.

The issue I am having is that my payments each month to cover the purchases I have made as well have all been allocated to my balance t/f. I have literally got none left.

So for example, in Feb my statement balance was £1943. Of that , 0% offers made up 951.16 and the rest purchases. I find their statements so confusing compared to AMEX and the app is so useless they gave me £50 in Dec for a complaint on it.

The T+C as per C/C companies says payments will be made on the highest interest rate first but now in May, with a normal amount of purchases each month, I have a balance of £2300 and £100 of 0% offers.

Am I missing something? TBF I would normally have kept a balance t/f card separate from my payment card but I am only having the one.

So Unison have said they are going to ballot for a strike on the offered full and final 3.3% offer. I am curious who is going to vote to strike? I've not been in a permanent role for a long time having done agency for a long time and I am so up for it! We are the only health/care profession that don't and we are supposed to be the profession all about social justice! If we don't stand up for ourselves how can we stand up for others? I am curious as to a) if many even know about this and b) if many would consider balloting to strike.

Does thing actually have a purpose? I can never get it to work and it is so fiddly to plug into the actual TV!
