Army photo from Malanowski

My mom came across this photo in my grandparents belongings. They passed almost 20 years ago, but were friends with Monsignor Thaddeus Malanowski who regularly led mass at their retirement community.

At some point he gifted them a personal (5x7) photo of himself and Elvis. There’s no information on the back of the photo, so we don’t know any specifics. We do know it was taken before Malanowski became the Chief of Chaplains of the US Army. That’s about it.

We found it interesting and figured I’d share it here in case anyone has more background.

Card game

We recently got into Transformers Blokees and came up with a game to play with them. It’s gone well so I figured I’d share it here. We’ve only played with Defenders versions so far. But it gives us something fun to do after opening and building a figure.

It requires two or more figures, 10 dice, our pre-designed cards (digital or print) and a hacked up box for measuring distance.

Here’s the gist. Each Transformer has a card with stats based on their tech specs. Their purple intelligence stat determines how many dice they roll on their turn. They can use two of their dice to supplement the stats on the bottom of their card.

At the end of each turn you pose the figure into one of three stances:

- Aiming - both feet on the ground
- Running - one foot on the ground
- Kneeling - one knee on the ground

They gain additional bonuses at the start of their next turn depending on their stance.

Each hit takes off one health and the last man standing wins.

We are getting around to writing up official rules now and making cards for other figures too. We also skipped the Beast Wars stuff because we don’t know enough about their tech specs.

If others are interested I’ll share the files here once they’re done.

We’re planning to re-shingle this porch roof and trying to determine if it should remain roll out.

It’s a 4-foot vertical slope across 16 feet. We’re in NY and I know the recommended pitch is 4x12. Will ice and water shield be good enough to prevent future problems with standard shingles?
