Found what looks like Elm on the side of the road. The grain is beautiful but it’s super chippy to turn, and still rather wet after 5 months in my heated apartment. It also stinks, almost like dog poo. Is that just elm or was it sick?

Anyway, i tried to make a small bow from a branch and it exploded (my fault) so it’s a cute tiny plate.

Also, how would you turn these pieces? I first spindle it round and then make a tenon on the flat side, then turn on the bark side… and saw the tenon away, but then my bottom looks terrible :(
