Under Construction-literally

Everything is under construction, the lot, the 33 story building, the streets, the L, and this- a self raising 350' luffing crane with jib. Don't look too closely, 'cuz the whole thing is half a bubble off (which is the nickname of my railroad). Also seen is the manlift in orange, in honor of a good O.E. and terrific friend for one job we worked in West Hollywood in the 80's.

For those that know, I was not kind to the operator of the crane...anyone see rest landings on the way up to the cab?

So this still has much to be finished, but it is one of those things that just don't get modeled. It's kit bashed, scratch and scrounged, and what ever I could find that looked like it'll do. Magnets inserted at top of tower mast and bottom of cab deck, so it does pivot, and hopefully won't break when I inevitably ram an arm into it.

Bridge crew have been busy

A couple of the many items that I would get 'round to it' were the bridges over my river. Originally a couple of Atlas and a Central Valley kit were installed for expediency, but it was time to start completing ideas of my vision for the layout. They are still a WIP, but they are hot items to complete. They are now a vertical lift and two bascule high pivot types, 3D printed plus a lot of kit bashing.

UP 4014's first movement on it's own when retrieved from Rail Giants Museum, Pomona, Ca (US) Nov. 11, 2013

In the late twilight, the UP recovery team had dragged 4014 almost a half mile across L.A. County Fairgrounds behind a couple of wheel loaders on temporary rails, and in this video, finally cut the tow chains and let 4014 drift downgrade under it own weight.

Lots of eyes watching 4014 freewheel it's million pounds of steel on it's own
