Hey gang is just was able to pick up a partially finished 2x5 layout. I have been working on my first layout which is 2x4 looking for some good recommendations on what would be the best way to combine these two. I’d like make it one layout. I’d just as soon not tear everything apart because of all the work that just went into it
Attached is an image of my Kato NS SD80MAC w/ a new decoder. When I crossover from the program track to the main track from the front of the train the track status light flashes and I get a Booster track fault but only from the front of the train and not the back wheels. If I take the decoder off, I don't see any track faults. Thanks in advance
I have this unopened set.
It comes with 3 passenger cars. The locomotive seems CRAZY-TINY (technical term). It is roughly the same size as the Kato steam loco from the Pocket Line.
The Kato loco is a dummy with the motor in the passenger car behind it.
Does this Royal Blue loco have the motor inside it, in the tender, or in a car behind it?
I can’t seem to find any information at all about it online. If anyone is familiar with what it is and with how it works I would appreciate it very much.
Hey there folks, I'm just starting my first layout, it will be focused on CN and Via Rail in Southwestern Ontario in the 2010s. As I'm just getting started, I'm curious what tips you would all have for me, particularly on what rolling stock I should focus on. Thanks so much!
What N scale projects are you working on?
Seen here teaming up to pull about the longest train I can realistically run on my compact layout, up the hill to Oberstockingen.
Looking for some PRR locomotives, mainly F units and GPs, even steam... and I'm noticing there's a considerable dearth of them.
On EBay there are some old GP7s, GP9s, SDs, etc. But its slim pickings.
Did the model train market simply get saturated with them 20 years ago?
I know there are some units available, like Fairbank Morse, and modern EMD SDs. But the F units, GP9s, and GP7s were pretty iconic for PRR diesels.
How do you chaps handle the centre ‘big sleeper’ ? I hate noticing it and I’m confident in my weathering when it comes to laying permanent track and hiding the joiner but is it something kato users must accept ? I wonder if you guys have any advice - feel free to post images of your own disguises
Since my layout is fully detailed, I feel a need to visually upgrade my favourite locomotives to try and match the detail level of the scenery.
"Lily" is the second loco I bought second hand. Some might recognize her as the old Arnold T2 "Ploxemam". It's a nice little model, but the paint was chipping off and there were remnants of a messy detail paintjob.
So I stripped off all the paint, gave her a new spray paintjob, painted many details by hand and did a bit of weathering. The results are subtle, but I'm very happy with it!
I wanted to try this idea as there is new oriental express in Europe.
I have a large number of HO and N scale trains, tracks, accessories, etc. that my uncle asked me to sell for him. eBay has given me SOME ideas, but not the knowledge that I know everyone in the train community have.
Please send me any advice you can! Here are a few of the models I have…
Kato makes some really good and really cheap chassis in N scale. They are practically worshipped in O scale and HO scale narrow gauge circles because they work so well.
You can find bunches of On15 and HOn30 shells to put on those chassises, but for some reason i cannot find any similar shells for N scale.
Does anyone know why that is?
