Is streaming movies/shows via free websites legal in the USA/California?

Pirating content is illegal, but the specific wording of it implies downloading or distributing content is illegal. When streaming a movie from a website, you aren't downloading it per se, you're just viewing it in the browser with the content temporarily buffered to memory that is inaccessible otherwise (obviously you can do things to access it but we're not doing that in this scenario).

If streaming was considered downloading/distributing, then simply watching it legally would also be piracy because you do the same for legal websites, not to mention all the copyrighted material on youtube.

Also to state the obvious, yes I know this isn't enforced regardless, I'm just curious because I've seen people say it technically isn't illegal even if you were to be prosecuted. Is that true?

25 [M4F] #Los Angeles or #USA - Looking for someone interesting

hey there,

I'm a 25 year old guy, I live in LA, Burbank area. I'm neither introverted nor extroverted. I like meeting new people and going out and traveling (been to most of Europe, former USSR countries), but I also like just being home and chilling.

Recently switched jobs and have a lot more free time. I work in tech, and previously was at Google. Even though I'm in tech I actually am not a big fan of it. For some reason I underestimated the amount of time the job is just staring at a screen, but otherwise it's good.

I'm into classical books (either completely unknown titles or big ones like charles dickens). I watch some modern shows like Silo, Severance, and recently watched Obsession with my friends. Also really like playing poker (I won a decent amount of money from my former director in poker lol). I go snowboarding and sometimes I buy salvage cars, fix them and sell them. Not so much for the money but like working with my hands.

I like learning about niche mystery things, horror, and history is cool. I used to want to be a politician so also have some experience in debate / politics.

One thing I noticed in a lot of posts here is people saying they want someone they share interests with. I disagree with that. My closest friends and I have very different interests but what I think matters a lot more is just world perspective and values instead.

I'm pretty good at conversation, so feel free to reach out and see where it goes.
