Finally got a date for a consultation! (UK based)

Hello all! I finally had a call today for an appointment for a sterilisation consultation in July. I’m in the UK and was referred in September last year so from referral to consultation it will have been 11 months on the wait list.

My consultation however is with a man. I don’t want to be considered sexist but I am a little bit worried my thoughts and desires to be sterilised will not be listened to. Previous experience will male doctors surrounding my period etc haven’t been successful in the past so I’m wary now. I do now have health conditions that make the choice for sterilisation more important and I’m hoping he will take that on board.

What can I expect from my consultation and how should I best prepare? Any UK folks who can also give me advice would be very well appreciated 💖

My HLA-B27 is negative

My HLA-B27 has just come back negative and is it bad that I’m actually disappointed? I’m waiting for a call from my doctor on the 29th who said depending on the result decides on how we move forward. I’m hoping it’ll still warrant a referral as I’ve been dealing with these symptoms for a while now and it’s affecting my daily life but all my markers aside from CRP and alkaline phosphate levels are normal. Even then my CRP and phosphate levels could be related to another inflammation diagnosis I have of the liver.

I don’t know what to do or what to think, it feels like I won’t be taken seriously 😭

I had an appointment with my physio today who listened to my symptoms and did a few tests, he said the schobers test was positive, but my left hip pain was tendon related and that the pain in my hands and arm weakness could be carpel tunnel. We’re waiting for my full blood test to come back but he did mention that I may still need to be referred to rheumatology regardless.

What does the positive schobers test mean? He didn’t give me that diagnosis in the appointment, I read that on my NHS app notes section.

Long story short I had to come off Microgynon 30 (combined pill) and move to Cerelle due to hepatic adenomas of the liver caused by the birth control pill. This now means I can only have BC that doesn’t contain estrogen. Cerelle was the first pill my GP put me on and so far I haven’t had any other negative side effects. I usually have heavy periods but I haven’t had a bleed on Cerelle since I first started taking it (this is a benefit for me) but on the flip side it’s completely destroyed my sex drive.

I’m on the wait list to discuss sterilisation but there’s an incredibly long wait list to speak to gynae in my area of the UK. Cerelle is working for me in all aspects other than my libido nose diving. I have a very supportive partner who never complains but it’s making me feel unworthy and undesirable.

I don’t know if I’m looking for answers or just a shoulder to cry on at this point.
