How does Solus handle older Nvidia drivers through updates?

I have an old computer with a Nvidia Maxwell GPU that I want to move away from Ubuntu. That GPU is supported only up to Nvidia Drivers 580 only. Most distros I have tried are making it harder and harder to stick to older driver versions and often try to update to newer versions, requiring me to manually freeze packages and kernel so they work at all or won’t break on an update. Doing so works in some of them but I feel that it may eventually break after some update that will require a newer driver. How does/will Solus deal with sticking to older drivers in future updates?

Help pairing 2015 SC with dongle in 2026

I use my 2015 SC connected to USB since always because I game in a desk and like how light it feels without batteries. This weekend I got the original dongle to try to play something on the couch but found that somehow they seem to not be paired anymore. Tutorials and AI are mixing years-old info and also the new SC so nothing I found fixed it. Also the Steam interface is constantly changing so tutorials usually point to screens or options that don’t exist anymore. I believe my SC runs the last non-BT firmware. I run Steam exclusively on linux. Does anyone know how is the current (mid-2026) procedure to pair the 2015 SC to its dongle or flash a more up to date firmware in case it helps with this issue?
Thank you all in advance!

What is people’s experience running ACE on a RX 7600?

I recently built a PC with a RX 7600, Ryzen 5 7600 and 2x16 GB DDR5 6000 MHz CL 30 memory. I am running it on Steam Proton compatibility layer (Ubuntu 24.04).
ACE is the most demanding game I tried to run on it so far. While it runs with decent fps (~80fps in a 2560x1080 75 Hz monitor) in practice sessions, I’ve been experiencing frequent frame drops even on lowest settings. I tried vsync on, vsync off, vrr, different frame caps, fsr… but it is always there. GPU usage is always maxed out when I don’t use frame cap or hovers between 75% and 90% when capped at 72 fps. VRAM usage is well within the 8 GB available (~6.7 GB) when I use low settings. ProtonDB actually doesn’t have much info related to performance.
I wonder if I am experiencing the best that my system can offer or is anyone having a better experience with similar hardware? I’m trying to decide if I should keep tinkering until I get better results or accept that I will have to live with it. Inputs from either Windows or Linux are welcome.

Thanks in advance!

tl;dr: What should be the expected performance of ACE on a RX 7600?
