HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen10 + Nvidia PNY A4500(200W)
About a year ago i grabbed a fully built DL380 off Facebook, dual Xeon Gold 5128, hdd bays full, 2x800 psu, 512GB hpe 32gb sticks...and the important part - the pcie riser for video cards.
fast forward - i came up with an ai project about a month ago, and i decided i was going to turn this thing into an ai cruncher. next thing to do was settle on a video card - this is where i really screwed the pooch.
This is where i didnt do my due diligence - I used gemini to help me find a video card - decided id settle on A4500 -
the problem: pcie will only power 75w.
Per the build sheet, this isnt a GPU enabled motherboard. The J95 header is missing for an aftermarket card.
so now i have to come up with a way to power this card while in the rack. I was wondering if any of you had some solutions? I can always buy a PSU from the local pc shop to plug into the card externally and make a jumper switch to turn it on but im hoping for a something a little more contained to the DL380.
As always, any help is appreciated and forgive the broken english. easier to speak my thoughts as they come than try to satisfy other peoples grammar boners. thanks a.d.d.
edit: yes, they do make a cable kit for 150 bucks that google will tell you allows you to use it, and after 45 minutes of searching where to plug it in, thats when i realized i dont have the J95 header and theres no traces to where it would be so i cant just solder it in.
