Lets get an E-PL11, same size as EPL5/6, with 20mp sensor, PDAF and 3-axis IBIS!

m43 was always a victim of the right tech at the wrong time.

But the time for small cameras is now. Lets go back to a small body for the E-PL series. But don't compromise on features, like autofocus, when you don't need to. Lets get 2 dials and a joystick, the flip up selfie screen, and a new sensor with PDAF.

3-axis IBIS seems to take up less space, but I'd honestly go for no IBIS if it meant keeping the camera this small.

OM Lineup:

  1. PEN-Lite - Small and compact as possible, no EVF, 20mp sensor, PDAF
  2. PEN - PEN-F sized, EVF + IBIS, still small, 20mp sensor, PDAF
  3. OM-5 - EVF + IBIS + Weather Sealing, 20mp sensor, PDAF
  4. OM-3 - Premium, retro, weather sealed, top of the line features, stacked sensor, PDAF
  5. OM-1 - Premium, large body with every possible feature, stacked sensor, PDAF

GX10 - please Lumix, I will settle

I've thought more after watching videos of the L10. Yes the body is too big, but it's still smaller than the OM-3. At this point I will take it.

Give me a GX10 with the body of the L10, but:

  • GH7 Sensor + PDAF
  • OLED EVF
  • IBIS
  • Real time LUTs
  • A JOYSTICK!
  • GH7 fold down/flippy screen. Or just a regular flip up screen. For the love of god please no flip out articulating screen.

I will still complain that the camera is too big, but I'll give you $1500 USD for it and you get to make it from the parts bin.

Question on older cameras like GX800(GF9), E-PL5/6/7 - size and straight out of camera jpg quality

Hey there. I want a tiny body to pair with tiny primes like 14/2.5, 17/1.8, 20/1.7 and such, something that easily slides in and out of a coat pocket.

My wife actually has an E-PL5 which I'm kind of using as a reference and it is the perfect size. My questions are kind of all over the place but I'll try to keep them organized lol.

  1. I'm worried about annoyance of avoiding shutter shock with the E-PL5/6, the E-PL7 has EFCS and 3-axis IBIS which is nice, but I'm wondering how much larger than the E-PL5 it is. Online measurements are hard to go by because my measuring tape shows the E-PL5 as different from the specs I see online.
It might seem silly, but I've held an E-P7 and it's bigger than I'd like. Each new model is slightly bigger than the last and its a slippery slope up to that lol.
    .
I guess am wondering if I am overthinking the size difference between an EPL5/6 and 7 or is it noticeable?

  2. Another option is the GX800/GF9. I am wondering how straight out of camera JPGs are for this. I did own a GX9 at one point but I honestly only ever shot RAW so I have no idea what the JPGs are like. I know with all of the Olympus profiles, especially the muted one, contrast/saturation/sharpness/curve options and ability to add mysets to the PASM dial that there's a good amount you can do even with an old body. I'm worried that an older Lumix might not be as flexible and will have ugly JPGs out of camera.
    .
So anyone have an older Lumix like this and can let me know what the options are like for JPGs?

  3. On the GX800, does the wheel on the back work like a D-Pad to adjust ISO/Exp comp, etc...? I've read that you have to rotate it to adjust these things and that it feels terrible to do so.
