Dean and Company Christmas Special (1982)

Dean and Company Christmas Special (1982)

(Ignore the terrible thumbnail.)

Yes, I know it's May.

Dean & Company is a family-produced local TV Christmas special that has been shown on cable in Birmingham, AL for well over 40 years. They started off small, but these days the show has appearances by, well, anyone in the area who wants to be included. This is the second special they produced from 1982. I highly recommend taking a look at their YouTube channel. I look forward to the new special every Christmas, as they just keep getting more outlandish. I hope they never change a thing.

I recommend checking out the segment beginning at approx. 39:40. It really gives a feel for Dean & Company. In it, we have two young folks performing "Away in a Manger" with an added harmonica solo. "Deanie," the young girl in the video is now the main host and creative force behind the show.

If you really want to see what your endurance level for them is, Found Footage Festival did like a 12 hour marathon of Dean & Company specials a couple of years back that can be found on YouTube.

For contrast, here's their 2025 special.

I'm 53, drunk and watching Batman & Robin with the director's commentary on. AMA

I have now drunk six Devil Anse IPA's and somehow decided that watching Batman & Robin was a good idea. At the last moment, I went all, fuck it, and decided to turn on the director's commentary. It's a different experience and I'm, god help me, almost appreciating it now. AMA, you jerks!
