Has anyone here tried selling professional services through LinkedIn?

I've been working around the professional resume and career services space and wanted to share an interesting sales model that I think could work well as a side hustle for someone who is good at LinkedIn prospecting and communication.

The basic model is fairly simple.

You identify professionals on LinkedIn who may be looking for a better resume or career positioning, start a conversation with them, understand what they need, showcase relevant work samples and, if there is a fit, convert them into a client.

For context, the company I work with, CVDesigner, provides professional resume writing and career branding services. Most of the customers are mid to senior-level professionals, with an average transaction value of around ₹10,000 to ₹15,000.

The interesting part is the economics.

The sales model works on a 10% to 20% commission per successful sale. So, for example, a ₹12,000 sale could result in roughly ₹1,200 to ₹2,400 in commission.

Someone who is able to consistently prospect, follow up and close a reasonable number of clients could potentially build this into ₹60,000 to ₹90,000+ per month. Obviously, that's not something I'd expect immediately. It takes time to build a pipeline and figure out what works.

There is also training support, sales material and work samples available, with training sessions conducted every fortnight, so someone doesn't necessarily need to come in already knowing everything about resume writing.

I think the bigger challenge is actually understanding the recruitment market and being comfortable talking to senior professionals. If you're good at LinkedIn outreach but don't understand the audience you're approaching, conversions are going to be difficult.

From what I've seen, it can take around 2 to 3 months of consistent prospecting and experimentation before someone starts understanding their numbers and seeing meaningful conversions.

What worked for you? Cold DMs, commenting, content, networking, or something else?

And for those who've tried selling professional services, what kind of conversion rates have you seen?
