2.5 months unemployed. 15+ interviews. 4 interview rounds. Still no offer. Need Advice.

I’m a 2025 graduate with 1 YOE, and I've been actively job hunting since April. It’s honestly been one of the most frustrating phases of my career.

I didn’t get placed through college. I was shortlisted for a non-tech role, but I turned it down because I wanted to build my career in software development.

My first job was at an AI startup, where I worked for 6 months. The salaries were repeatedly delayed and paid in multiple installments, so I decided to leave. I then joined another startup and worked there for 3 months. After my probation ended, they asked me to sign a 2-year employment bond. I wasn’t ready committing to that, so I decided to leave, even though I didn't have another offer lined up. My LWD was in April. Few Indian Startups just make you work more with cheaper cost. BS experience.

Since then, I’ve attended 15+ interviews.

A company invited me for a walk-in, took me through 4 interview rounds, and I genuinely thought I had the job. After all that, they told me they were actually looking for someone with 3+ YOE. I wish they had mentioned that before putting me through the entire process.

I’ve also received 6 offers from very small startups, but after my previous experiences with delayed salaries and instability, I wasn’t comfortable taking that risk again. Right now, I’m mainly targeting mid-sized companies and MNCs where I can focus on learning and growing without worrying about whether I’ll get paid on time.

I do have Naukri Premium, my profile gets decent recruiter views, and recruiters often reach out. But many conversations never turn into scheduled interviews. I’ve also tried 5 internal referrals, but most of those roles eventually went to existing employees or people already known to the team.

At this point, it feels like I’m doing everything I'm supposed to do applying consistently, preparing for interviews, networking, and improving my resume but I’m still unable to cross the finish line.

If you’ve been in a similar situation, what helped you finally land a good role? Is there something I should be doing differently? Pls help.

Also, if your company is hiring or you’re open to referring someone for Full Stack or Backend Developer roles in Chennai, Bengaluru, or Remote, would be really grateful. Happy to share my resume. Thank you.

regarding job fair on July 11th - i prepared a spreadsheet for my reference to categorize companies that attend it because the organizing people didn't bother to - sharing here if it would be of any use to anyone here + could use feedback and corrections and comments about it

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1X9Xu8_suPGtS_B9LbMy6C3xNvNgtEeohR0DzTtOKe84/edit?usp=sharing

bright red - these are manpower supplier or staffing agencies - not saying that they're bad or anything but just that if you go through them you're just on contract and you won't probably get benefits like cab facility or allowances

purple - these are companies that exist outside of chennai

crimson red - these are companies that exist in "chennai" but not in chennai - sriperumbudur, maraimalai nagar, oragadam, irungatukottai, etc.

corn blue - they are training cum placement services and may ask for money

grey (work in progress) - these are companies that have horrible reviews in sites like ambitionbox or glassdoor

i hope this would be of use and help people avoid getting into traps because ultimately they call themselves "headhunters" and "human resource" as if job seekers are just some raw material

if any corrections or any other information is needed i can also consider working on that

ps: if this color coding is annoying i can do something about it too, i am just autistic and coloring is fun

---

I am forced to go to this job fair by my dad because he keeps telling me it is huge

i personally don't want to go but i am being forced to so i am trying to cope ahead by researching before i go there and avoid getting overwhelmed

the organizing committee released a list of companies a couple of days ago

they did not include location, job title they are hiring for, type of hiring, whether they're company or consultant, or anything like that

they just released a list of companies and vacancy count - whatever that makes them look like they are bigger than they think

so i prepared a spreadsheet to do their work, with the help of AI because it is very frustrating to do it myself manually - i also made to check myself whenever possible because i don't trust ai much

Back from the US to India. Got an HCL offer as a fresher. Should I accept or wait?

Hi everyone,

I recently returned to India after completing my MS in Biomedical Engineering in the US. It's been almost a year since graduating, and after a long job search o came back and finally received an offer from HCL for 4.2 LPA as a fresher.

I'm grateful to have an offer, but I'm also wondering if I should wait for a better opportunity with a higher package. I don't have any full-time work experience yet, only internships.

Would you recommend:

- Accepting HCL, gaining experience, and switching after 1–2 years?

- Or waiting for a better-paying opportunity?

I'd really appreciate honest advice, especially from people who started with similar salaries and later switched.

Thanks in advance!

Dear Employed People of Reddit: How Did You Unlock the “First Job” Achievement?

2026 Btech graduate here. At this point, I have two full-time jobs:
Applying for jobs
Checking my email every 5 minutes for a reply that never comes. 😭
I’ve learned Python, AI/ML, built projects, optimized my resume, and watched enough “How I got placed” videos to earn an honorary HR degree.
To the seniors and employed people of Reddit:
Which role currently has the most openings for freshers?
What skill should I focus on if I want a job ASAP?
How did you get your first break?
Any advice, referrals, or reality checks are appreciated. Thanks in advance from a future employee (hopefully). 🙏

Need career advice: Is joining a training institute worth it for an unplaced CSE graduate?

Hey everyone,

I graduated this year with a B.Tech. in CSE.

During my 6th semester I planned to go abroad for MS in HCI. My parents were supportive, so I spent a lot of time preparing for IELTS, talking to consultants, researching universities, etc. I still attended campus placements, but I wasn't giving it my 100%.

Later I came across a lot of discussions here and elsewhere about how difficult it is to get a job abroad without experience. After thinking about it for a while, I dropped the MS plan.

By then, most of the campus placements were over. I attended a few interviews but couldn't crack them. Almost all of my friends got placed, and I'm one of the few who didn't.

For the last 2 months I've been applying off campus. I've applied to 150+ companies, got only one assessment, and the rest either rejected me or never replied. It's honestly been pretty demotivating.

Today my father told me he's ready to spend around ₹1 lakh if it'll actually help me build my career. He suggested joining a "hot" course/institute which will get me a good package instead of sitting at home applying every day.

Now I'm confused about what to do.

Some people say Java Full Stack is the safest option. Others say Python Full Stack. Some say AI is the future, while others say AI courses are mostly hype. Then there are people saying DevOps/Cloud aren't beginner-friendly.

I'm not looking for a fancy certificate. The main reason I'd join an institute is for:

  • structured learning
  • interview preparation
  • mock interviews
  • placement support

So I wanted to ask people who've actually been through this.

If you graduated recently, what would you do in my situation?

  1. Are institutes like Coding Ninjas, Crio, QSpiders, GUVI, etc. actually worth paying for?
  2. Any good institutes in Bangalore or Chennai that genuinely helped you get interviews?
  3. Or is self-learning + projects still the better option?

I'd really appreciate honest opinions. I don't want to waste my father's money by making the wrong decision.

Thanks.
