The world has never been fair to you, always beating you down at your lowest, never giving you a chance to get back on your feet. You grew up on the streets with no family to take care of you. People would pass you by either without a look, or disgust painted all over their face. You're a worm to society, a worthless fly on the wall, trash to be thrown away and forgotten about. Even other outcasts like you have stabbed you in the back, both literally and figuratively. You were never meant for greatness.

Or were you?

After years of groveling in the mud and garbage in the city, you and a small group of other outcasts that just barely trust one another set out to try your luck outside the walls. Only a couple days into your journey and you're at each other's throats. No food. No water. Every waking second is a fight for your life. Maybe life outside the city isn't any better. That is until you all stumble on a hidden ancient ruin from a time long lost. Curious, you explore. Maybe too far.

Deep within the ruins is a dusty book on a wrecked stone table. Upon reading the book you and the others are contacted by a very old, and forgotten god. Calling themselves the "Black Thorn," they offer you all incredible power in exchange for faith, prayer, and sacrifice.

Your goal is to start a cult, recruit members throughout the continent, manage the cult members by sending them to terrorize or recruit more, and ultimately serve your new master. Will you and your group of once outcasts work together, or turn on one another at the chance for more power?

Inspired by the video game Cult of the Lamb, but instead of running the whole cult by yourself you share the load with a small group of others. The game will feature light combat and focus more on RP; managing the cult and its members; and spreading your influence through manipulation with words and trickery.

For just over a century there has been a magical eclipse casting all light from the world and giving a new home to dangerous beasts while humans dealt with widespread famine. Other than the monsters roaming the lands freely, vampires have taken over, holding a never ending ball in the capital to distract the populace as well as feed on kidnapped humans. The world is their hunting ground and nowhere is safe outside of a settlement or bunker.

You are members of an underground resistance set on tearing down the blood sucking empire and bringing light back to the world. Whether experienced and a new member, you all fight for the same cause. Recently, there was a raid on a local hideout for the resistance which hurt your numbers so your leader, Aris Sun-Seeker, had tasked a group to infiltrate the capital in order to find a way to end the eclipse. That was almost a month ago and contact has been cut off for a few days. Each of you has been chosen to be apart of the search and rescue team with the secondary task of finishing the original teams' mission. Rescue is priority. But given the chance, will you try to save the world?

About Me: Hi! My name is Stachiio (like pistachio) and I am a forever DM, although I don't complain. I have been a DM for roughly 15 years now and have hosted irl games, live voice games and pbp games. The world you will play in and the story you help me create are all hand crafted by me, but I believe every good D&D game requires the players to be involved in the story telling process. Im very open to player suggestion and homebrew ideas so long as they fit the narrative as well as dont disrupt the fun for your fellow players.

This is both a PBP game AND a live voice game all run through Discord. Since this game is more focused on the story rather than combat and dungeon crawling, I prefer to use theater of the mind or simple drawings for combat, opening up imagination.
