Learning to drive was expensive but it's just as bad after you pass.

I saved up for a long time so that I had money to buy a car after I passed my test. I thought that would take away most of the expense after I passed but even after that it is still costing me £120 per month for insurance and then fuel is crazy expensive too, almost £2 a litre where I live and I'm spending around £40 to £50 per week on that. I'd say in total it's costing me almost £100 per week to drive. I do work quite a long way from home but it was actually significantly cheaper for me to buy a bus pass and travel everywhere by bus. Sorry about the moan but I feel deflated. I thought learning to drive would open up the world to me which it has, sort of, I just have no money left to do anything.

Is it just me that feels like this?

Save money every time you fuel up!

Hi everyone,

I am a hobby app developer and for the past 4 months I have been building an Android app that uses the new government fuel finder API. All UK fuel stations must update their prices every 30 minutes. This means my app can show you live fuel prices, it also has a feature if you set your mpg and tell it how much you want to fuel up £ or litres, it will tell you which fuel station to visit to get the most for your money accounting for the fuel you will use driving there.

Would you use this if it saved you a couple of pounds every time you fuelled up or would you not bother for the sake of just a couple of pounds?

Thanks
