Budget dual dash cams
Looking for dual front and rear (not the combined one where the rear camera films the back seat) I'm on a budget I'd like to stick to £70 or less preferably, I don't know where to look there's so many

After moving off slightly I stalled; the light turned red so I reversed back behind the line I did what I thought was best.
I feel like I’ve regressed so much since passing. I passed last week but I feel like my driving is so bad. I keep forgetting to change gears and I just feel like I’m doing stupid mistakes. I know I’m gonna get better when I’m used to driving alone but does anyone have any advice?
So I struggle with spiral roundabout specially when its 4th exit today I just was so focus on the exit and lanes half rand a red light was half stopped on the line and was before the pelican crossing.
There are no cameras at least on Google street view and nor on waze app. But guy behind me was giving me such bad looks what kind of trouble i am in? Im just so nervous about it
I'm a reporter and looking to speak to people who are learning or have learnt how to drive in Greater Manchester and the costs surrounding it, from lessons, to tests and also how long you waited to get your practical test
Hello all, im about to have my test so im looking at my local garages and dealerships. For 2nd hand cars that are the size im looking for and are automatic seems to be £4,500 - £12,00 for cars from the early 2000s. Is that the average now? I have a friend who brought a 2014 car for £2,500 but it was a manual so does that make a difference? I also have my parents saying things like "I brought my first car in the 90s for £150" or "anything over £2,000 is a scam" I obviously understand and have tried to explain to them that a functional car is not going to be under £2,000 in this economy but i just feel really out of my depth here. I have looked at a car that i like that is £5,200 is a 2008 with low mileage but when I said about it to my family I was called insane. I've looked at about 20 different garages and can't find any car thats automatic, small and reliable for under £4,500 is this the going rate or am I actual going insane and I need to start looking at garages further away?
Edit: thank you all for commenting. Just want to be clear im an auto only driver due to having a bad experience while driving manual so I understand i am going to have to pay more for an auto rather than a manual 😊
Bus signalled left it wasn’t safe for me to over take because oncoming traffic was close, the bus kept his left indicator on and the bus on the other side was far enough and put both his indicator lights on, I completed the overtake within the speed limit as there was enough space between me and the bus on the other side, was this correct or should I have waited
All my lessons were with a newer car, but now that i bought myself a newer i seem to struggle to find the biting point and stall a lot, any tips, or is it just me not being used to it? I had no issues with the clutch in my instructors car
When on a major road, is it considered good practice to keep junctions on my side of the road clear in case people wish to turn into/out of the minor roads, even if there’s no keep clear/yellow boxes? Been hearing conflicting things about this.
Got out nice and early and enjoyed being able to take my girl to the dog park
Luckily I was keeping to the speed and stopped in time, this just happened on my way back from work and it’s the first time in 3 days two drivers have attempted to pull out on me at the last second
I was on the a212 lane went straight and needed up on the right lane of a212, instead of going straight I signalled to go right to go to the Croydon flyover, was this correct or not
I’m 18 and just bought my first car. I need really cheap insurance. Like i’m talking less than 125 a month
any recommendations? I was super excited about owning this car but all i can find is insurance for 600 a month.
So I finally passed my auto test this morning 2nd attempt (after 1+ year learning). I was so excited and I’ve been looking at cheap, small auto cars for months so I had 2 picked out to test drive today if I passed my test.
Problem is, I’ve been learning in 2 automatic hybrids. My parents have a 2008 Prius and my instructor has a 2019 Yaris. I didn’t think anything of this until today when I test drove a 2010 Kia Picanto and nearly sent us flying out of this guy’s garage when I gently pressed the gas pedal the same way I would in the Toyota hybrids. I did this a few times (causing both my dad and the seller to shout WOAH in fear lol) but the seller reassured me I’d get used to it.
I honestly (maybe naively) had no idea how different driving a normal petrol automatic would be compared to a hybrid. I was extremely anxious about learning to drive which is why I opted for automatic rather than manual, which was a limitation I was willing to give myself for less anxiety around driving. But now I feel like I’ve unintentionally limited myself even more having only driven hybrid cars.
I would’ve loved to just get another hybrid Yaris for my first car as I love the way my instructor’s drives and much prefer the smaller size compared to the family Prius, however my budget is quite tight for a first car. - we weren’t looking to spend more than around 3 grand. So I feel like my current options are buying a small, older non-hybrid automatic that fits into my budget but I would have to adjust to the difference in the pedals (which makes me quite anxious), increasing my budget and investing in an affordable hybrid car (may have to increase it to at least 5-6 grand), or just waiting until I can inherit the Prius when my parents get a new car (could be quite far in the future and would mean I have to share a car in the meantime).
Does anyone have any advice or reassurance? I’m sad that this naivety and realisation has bummed me out a bit on a day where I was initially so excited and proud of myself.
Ok can someone please explain what undertaking is to me. I am seeing conflicting information and it's bugging me.
'The Highway Code (Rule 268) states that you should not overtake on the left or move to a lane on your left to overtake. However, it makes an exception for slow or congested traffic, where lanes move at similar speeds and the left lane happens to move faster.'
So if you're in lane 2 and you move into lane 1 to go past the slow car in your lane, that's undertaking.
What about staying in the left lane but going faster than middle lane (at 70mph and they are going slower than you)? Would that be undertaking? Because if so why? Surely we are meant to be doing the speed limit regardless of whichever lane you're in.
i passed my test in January, have gotten over the new driver anxiety, and am very comfortable with my route to and from work.
So I’m driving home from work. One of the sections is a tight, narrow, two way road. This is in London so it’s not out of the norm, but on this occasion a 7.5 tonne lorry comes from the other direction. I see them come so I stop, but i’m already too far forward. When I look back, a van has stopped behind me, and a car behind him.
The lorry comes upto me and flashes a bunch. I reverse back as much as I can up to the vans bonnet behind me, and I see the car behind them also reverse back.
The driver and passenger in the lorry are signalling something with their hands, which I assume to be to the lorry to move back. After 30ish seconds, the van reverses, and I reverse back too. What I don’t realise, is there is a bend behind me, and because I reverse in a straight line I end up hitting the kerb which has a bollard on preventing me from moving further back. I didn’t hit it, but I need to move forward to readjust.
As I reversed back, the lorry has gone as far forward as possible, and has ended up infront of my bumper. So now I can’t move forward, and I can’t move back. My only option is to mount the kerb to my left (not a small one, those sharp 90 degree ones), as the lorry is to the right of me. I do it slowly because I drive a mini which is already low to the ground.
This creates enough space for the lorry to get past, but before they do, one of them throws a huge bunch of empty McDonalds cardboard at my car, and I realise they blame ME for the manoeuvre.
I’ve looked at their view on Google Maps and they passed 3x no entry signs for 7.5t lorry’s.
Did I do anything wrong? Can provide the dashcam if need be but except for misjudging the reversing, I don’t see how they could have expected me to mount the kerb (which is illegal in london), and feel like they made the situation worse by not waiting the extra 5 seconds for me to readjust and reverse back
Hi everyone,
I made a serious driving mistake last night and I’m quite shaken by it.
I was driving first time at night on a rural road in the UK. I saw these road markings occasionally that confused me, and according to my navigation I needed to turn right further ahead. Because of that, I mistakenly thought I should move over and stay on the right side. I indicated right and moved into what I thought was the correct lane.
After about a minute or two, I realised I was actually driving on the wrong side of the road. There were no oncoming vehicles directly in front of me, so thankfully there was no accident. There were cars behind me, but as far as I know I did not force anyone into danger. As soon as I realised my mistake, I indicated left and moved back into the correct lane.
I fully understand that this was a very dangerous and serious mistake. I’m not trying to excuse it. I’m posting because I want to understand what I should do now, both legally and practically.
Since there was no collision, no injury, and no damage that I’m aware of, do I need to report this to the police? Should I do anything else?
Any advice would be appreciated. Please be honest, but I already know this was stupid and dangerous
I passed in May and I started driving about a week ago since my insurance started. Now, going down routes I’ve been on lessons or I’ve been around before as a passenger in a car I’m fine with, but in new areas I get drivers anxiety and I make mistakes like being in the wrong lane, or taking wrong exists. Should I have a pass sticker to let other people know I’m new and not an idiot? I asked my family and they said to avoid it as you become a target for insurance claims as a new driver but how true is that?
My monthly payment quote from my current insurer has pretty much halved.
If I don't take them up on their quote while I'm shopping around for insurance, will it go up? (The company I'm already with).
I'm pretty happy with the quote as it's cheaper than I'm already paying and it saves me the faff of having to retype all my details and stuff again.
Is it actually worth shopping around?
Basicallt ill try sum it up. 2 weeks ago i was in asda trying to park. Just got insured for about 1 week. I found a bay. Tried to park in it and the car infront of me was fairly far back. So i slowly edged towards it. I parked. Stopped in my car for 2 seconds. Then a guy comes out of the shop and says i hit his car. I jumped out. The car infront of me was paeked about 1 foot into my bay and my car was touching his. I reversed out. Theres a very small scratch (see pictures). He said give me ur details. I said lets do it privately its only small. He said sure. After going back and forth for 2 weeks. He took it to his garage and they said get it washed. He washed it and he still wasnt happt. I said bring the car down to me let me have a look and well sort it. I can even take it to my garage (family business). He said okay. This whole time he was driving without an MOT. His MOT expired 3 weeks before i even hit his car. So i said get it MOTd first. He messages back today saying hes got it MOTd and wants my insurance details. (The switch up is crazy) i tried to talk to him. No reply. Rung him twice. No reply.
What do i do. I cant get a claim at 17. My insurance will sky rocket.
