poor driving standards

i passed my test last month so have been free on the roads for a few weeks. the more i drive the more i hate it, and i think a huge part of that is that everyone else seems to be terrible at driving.

just today, someone slammed on and stopped dead in front of me on a slip road rather than slowing to merge, causing me to have to swerve round them and undertake. when i got back to my town, i then got stuck behind someone who was driving very unpredictably - straddling multiple lanes in some areas and stopping to look at road signs. then there’s the issue of nobody using their indicators or positioning correctly so its almost impossible to read them.

i dont recall facing this so often in my lessons. the issue is im constantly on edge driving around so i just dont want to do it. i feel like i worked so hard to get my license and id actually rather just take public transport or walk.

is this normal ?! i do live in devon so hoping its just an influx of tourists that arent familiar with our roads over summer. 🙃

parking

hi!

i am looking at driving over to eindhoven from england for a festival next year. i am looking to stay in the centre and the hotels i’ve looked at are all charging ~ €25 a day.

i wondered if there are any secure car parks that might be a bit cheaper? i wouldn’t be the using the car whilst i’m there so just need somewhere to park up for 5 days.

any advice would be helpful as i’ve never done this before!

thank you :)

travel

hi!!! this will be my first time going to outbreak and im mega excited. however, the only hotel we could get was the premier inn trafford centre west. from looking at google maps, it seems like its a ~40 min walk or we can get a tram nearby and then it’s one stop and a short walk to the bec. however, i’ve seen people talking about it as though that hotel is near the tram stop for outbreak? does anyone have any idea on this pls? happy to walk if we have to but also would love to get the tram with being on our feet all day 🥲 thank you!

insomnia

hi!

i took my first jab of 2.5mg on wednesday night, so 5 days ago.

ever since, i have not been having horrible sleep issues. it’s taken me hours to drop off and then i’m waking up periodically and eventually waking up way earlier than normal, so i’m only getting a few interrupted hours.

is this normal? i can’t see that it’s a listed side effect but it seems too weird of a coincidence!

i’m due for my next jab in 2 days but scared to take it in case this continues. is it likely to keep up or will my body adjust?

if anyone else has suffered with this, do you have any tips?

Examiner Behaviour

So, I just failed my first test! I got 2 serious faults but they’re things I can work on so I can be ready next time.

What got me however was my examiner’s behaviour. I was visibly very nervous and I told her this and she didn’t say anything back to me. She said very little during the rest of the test, an ‘okay’ when I asked if I could have a drink before pulling off, and when I was thinking aloud about my lane on a roundabout she said ‘I can’t help you’. She then kept grabbing the seatbelt and side eyeing me when I was deep breathing to calm myself, and she would jolt herself forward nearly every time I braked.

It was a very demeaning experience and I hate that I’ve paid for the privilege!

I’ve rebooked for October in the hopes that I can get a cancellation. Also hoping not all examiners are so cold? 😩
