How done is J. Cole?

So, TFO is officially out and has been for a bit now, and it is his final studio album, however, I'm not super tapped in, but based on the theme, lyrics and energy of the final few songs of Disc 39, it didn't seem to me like Cole was saying bye to the rap game, especially so in I Love Her Again.
What more will come? Will he keep up his features?
Is it just the studio albums that are over, but could we still get singles, EPs, mixtapes?
I know there's the other long awaited project, "It's a Boy", which it seems he's said will drop eventually, but do we know what timeframe (apart from the rumour it will be on January 28th) and what it will consist of in size?
Other than that, has he really teased anything else?

What was the rush with Ellie?

I just replayed this game after years, and I am quite confused. I might've misheard or accidentally looked over something that explains it, but why were they so adamant and rushed to get the vaccine from Ellie?

I mean, they had an unconscious Joel and Ellie, and immediately ran very rushed tests to see if it could be done, and before consulting what is essentially her "guardian" in Joel, or, I don't know, asking Ellie, they just planned to kill her for a potential vaccine?

I could understand if they didn't wake Ellie out of fear that she might not want it, and they'd risk her running off, but Marlene in the final hospital cutscene seemed pretty confident in that Ellie would want this.
I assume it's partly to create more tension in whether or not Joel did the right thing, since this is (if they didn't have a good reason) a pretty big moral flaw in what the Fireflies did.
Why not ask Joel or Ellie to find out what she would want? Why not run further testing to see if this would actually work? Why not look to see if there is a way to get the vaccine without killing Ellie?
Was there a practical reason or is it just the Fireflies who did something morally questionable in attempt to rush their goal?

I've been scratching my head all day, and I can't really think of any reason why the Fireflies can't just calm down for like 5 days or something to run more testing, and after Google was vague and unhelpful, I turn to Reddit.

TLDR: Why did the Fireflies decide and plan to kill Ellie for the vaccine so quickly, without more research?
