30/32 — looking to get these last 2 spots filled before Season 2! 🏈

I’ll preface this by saying I’ve been going to warped tour since middle school back in 1999 and probably hit at least 12-15+ from then until the tour ended.

Last year I was so excited for the 30 year anniversary. I just wanted to see the lineup before locking in my passes. The tickets sold out before the line up dropped. The line up was insane and I was jealous and waited tirelessly for a second wave of passes to drop that never happened. A live stream was on for every stage and I said I can’t miss it if they return.

This year I preordered day one and as soon as the line up dropped, I was shocked at how many bands are hitting other towns and not DC and how much less classic names we had compared to last year. Even the home town boys All Time Low being on other cities and not DC confused me although it didn’t make a big difference. We left Saturday about 2 hours early to get home to catch the NBA game. I was trying to find the live stream for the last 2 sets and was sucked there wasn’t one.

Long story short, I was using last year as a baseline of the future of warped tour. I didn’t realize it was a one off for the 30th anniversary. I grew up with the inflatable and running to it, so even though I’m older and will risk missing some bands, I’m not going to complain about something classic like that. Thankfully it didn’t burn me lol. We waited until someone dropped the list while having drinks at home.

The good - some solid bands from top to bottom, overall a good crowd that didn’t have a bunch of assholes, a decent amount of the necessary facilities (portions and water), parking and entry wasn’t too bad for me

The Bad - lack of shade/seating. I kept calling the folks on the metal walk way and the underpass the graveyard. So many folks looked dehydrated or out of it. I was passing out Gatorade packets as I could.

Whoever was mixing. I feel the whole weekend was kick drum and bass on every stage besides the unplugged one.

No live stream

A slight dip in recognizable talent compared to last year. But again with 105 bands, I still had enough to fill my days.

Overall, a weekend of great vibes and no Bs and outside of the heat, the weather didn’t ruin a good time. I’ll still be back next year… 😂 I will say I think I enjoyed my time more at Nissan Pavilion and Merriweather back in the day. I’m sure they cost a lot more to rent than RFK fairgrounds.
