NSA Marathon Plan - Sub 2:50
Hi, I’d like to hear about success stories for those who ran sub 2:50 (and a PR) using Sirpoc’s marathon plan.
A few questions I have:
(1) What was the longest run you did (in both time & miles)?
(2) Did you actually do the HM time trial/race 3 weeks before the race? This seems way too close for comfort
(3) Did you do the 5x 5K (or equivalent time wise) + 10K sub T + 3x8000 m progression run (or time equivalent wise) within 5 days like the book shows? If so, did you feel not too beat up from it?
(4) Did you feel concerned you didn’t do conventional long run workouts and only did easy LRs for time on feet?

Interesting to hear success stories.
HM @ Goal MP 2 Weeks Out
Has anyone ever tried a HM @ goal MP 2 weeks out from their A marathon race? Do you think this is too close for this kind of workout? There is a half marathon nearby where I live (California) prior to my marathon in October, and wondering whether it’s more harmful than beneficial to sign up but do it @ goal MP as a nice tune-up. Thanks!
Marathon Block: 2x Sub T + MP in LRs
Hi, I’m wondering whether anyone has followed vanilla NSA up until the marathon block, and switched to a 2x sub T + a MP workout within a long run, rather than doing 3x Sub T + easy long run. If so, did it go well for you? Do you wish you stuck to the Sirpoc plan instead?
5K Progression for Sub 17 Runners
Hi everyone, I’d like to hear success stories from those who were at ~17 min 5K fitness before starting NSA, and then improving using NSA instead of traditional boom/bust or high intensity training blocks.
How long did you do vanilla NSA and what were your 5K times before & after following it?
