Ghost Bullets Battlefield 6
DICE/Battlefield Studios (EA) have been actively working on Battlefield 6’s multiplayer netcode and hit registration since launch (October 2025), with multiple patches and ongoing improvements.
Your “shots not hitting” issue is a very common complaint often called hitreg, ghost bullets, or desync and it’s tied to the game’s netcode. It happens when your client (what you see) doesn’t match the server, especially with movement, high player counts, crossplay, or latency.
Quick Status (as of mid-2025)
They’ve made fixes: Improvements rolled out in late 2025 (e.g., ahead of the Winter Offensive update in December), more in early 2026 patches (like 1.2.3.0 with networking tweaks, better damage event processing, and network indicators), and recent Season 3 updates (May 2026) included further netcode work.
It’s not fully resolved: Many players (on forums, Reddit, Steam, etc.) still report inconsistent hit registration, especially with snipers/DMRs, fast movement, or certain weapons/attachments. Some say it feels better in some patches but worse in others. High-ping players or crossplay can make it worse.
Common Causes & Quick Fixes to Try
Check your network - Enable the in-game network graph/indicators (added/improved in patches) to see packet loss, latency variation, time nudge, etc.
Lower your settings - Reduce Future Frame Rendering or CPU-related smoothing if on PC.
Wired connection + close server - Avoid Wi-Fi; use a VPN or check server region if possible.
Restart / verify files - Common for temporary desync.
Crossplay - Try disabling it if on console (some players report it helps).
Netcode in large-scale Battlefield games is complex due to 64/128 players, vehicles, destruction, and fast TTK/movement. It’s rarely “perfect,” but they’re iterating on it.
If it’s persistent, check the official Battlefield forums or @BattlefieldComm on X for the latest patch notes/community updates, and report clips with network stats. The team has acknowledged it as a priority. Hang in there, patches keep coming! This is the best advice I can give.
