My Clearview Windshield Review
Don’t mind my garage. Long story short, this Clearview Windshield is 10000% worth it.
Here’s the long story:
I bought a 2011 Road King Classic last year and noticed whenever I would be above 50MPH, I would get horrendous buffeting. Before I bought this bike, I had viewed a total of 3 other Road Kings off FB Marketplace and each rider stated that the windshield was useless and most rode with it off.
After buying this RK, I rode with it off but honestly I wanted a windshield. I understand the bike looks sexy and for short trips, I will take it off. But my weekend rides are usually 4~7 hours and I bought the RK specifically for touring, so I wanted one.
I’m 5’11, and the stock windshield with my full face helmet would cause buffeting at 50 MPH and at 65 MPH it would buffet really bad, and at 70MPH it would be so bad that I could not read signs anymore.
Ordered a 21” GT width windshield from Clearview Windshield and it’s such a drastic change.
I still get SLIGHT buffetting but only at 70MPH+, which is incredible. At 80MPH I get comparable buffeting that I would get at 50MPH on the stock windshield.
Still trying to figure out exactly where to angle the vent that the windshield comes with, maybe I can get rid of the buffeting entirely when angled correctly. But even as of now I would say the windshields worth it.
Personally I think windshields and fairings are ugly, but if you gotta get a windshield, I’d give them a try. They do have a money back guarantee where you can take it for a test ride and what not.
