Help with BadUpdate/Avatar/Storage with SSD

Hello,

I recently dusted off my 360 E after discovering BadAvatar. Went down the rabbit hole and wanted to mod this thing right.

I have a 1TB SSD with the correct controller. I can flash the firmware and format it using FATxplorer (Just the SSD license) and the 360 sees it so I don’t think the SSD is the issue. I have also ran BadUpdate/Avatar via USb no problem. I also followed the steps on FATxplorer’s website to get the full 1TB SSD working with BadStorage, but I can’t seem to exploit it anymore.

I’m not sure if I missed a step or something.

Ultimately, I’d love to run the exploit from the SSD, which seems possible unless I missed something. If I have to use a USB, that’s fine but would prefer everything internally.

Are there any guides or resources yall could recommend to set this 360 E up right? Thanks!

Love the Drizzt series so far, except…

Spine of the World….

I started reading them around two years ago and instantly fell in love with the series. Read them back to back until I hit that book. Man was it a slog to get through and I eventually just put it down. Tried other books for a while but missed the Drizzt series. Finally, after like a year of avoiding it and trying other genres/books, I made myself finish it. It got a bit better as the book went on but not much. Within a week of finishing that I’m like 40% through the next. I’m glad my love for the series hasn’t diminished!

I don’t mean to hate on it and I love the characters and stories told as a whole, but it just felt like the series hit the brakes pretty hard compared to the books prior.

Anyone have similar experiences with a series they love but that one book that nearly took you out?

Wall Mounting Rack

Just looking for a suggestions. I have a 12u TecMojo rack I’d like to mount to my wall. Would it be better to mount plywood to the wall then rack to it or does it not matter?

There won’t be anything super heavy like a UPS in it. A SFF server blade, some NASs, very light switches and micro PCs.

Thanks

Looking for hardware suggestions for storage PC.

So I suddenly have 8x 8TB HDDs, 3x 4TB HDDs and 12x 480GB SSDs and 4x 1TB SSDsRight now, I have 4 Synologys (Not currently being used because I don’t wanna deal with managing 4 of them just yet) for the 8TBs and a QNAP for the 2 of the 4TB HDDs which is where what data I do have is currently sitting. 4 of the 480GB SSDs are in my HPe ProLiant DL20 Gen 10 as that’s all it can fit. The rest of the 480GB drives and the 1TB drives are lying around.

My potential solution is to take my old desktop, which is a Ryzen R5 1600, 32GBs of Ram and an Asrock x370 Killer SLI Mobo and put everything in some sort of case that can fit everything or be made to fit everything.

My question is, what hardware would be best to get all these drives hooked up with the old PC I have. I’ve seen PCIe x4 cards with 6x SATA data plugs and then PCIe x1 with 10+ SATA data plugs, which seems backwards to me. I’ve also seen m.2 NVMe to 6x SATA. There are those HBA cards. I was thinking a backplane/3D printed drive caddy of sorts would work. There are also those 10 bay DAS/drive enclosures but they’re limited to USB-C.

Basically, I am at a loss of what route to go. A large ass NAS costs too much and I’d likely need two of them to get most of my drives. NAS cases don’t generally seem to support large ATX boards.

The one thing I saw that could work was this test bench frame that looked like it had a lot of ways to mount things to it, but I’d have to design and 3D printed way more than I’d really want, but I’m not opposed.

I also only have a 12u rack, which should be sufficient for my needs but I do have to take into consideration the size of whatever I come up with. That and the overall cost needs to not get the wife riled up haha.

Librarian is a Pyramid?

I guess I got real unlucky. Finally made it over to Six Day Stilt as every character I’ve had prior died horribly and never made it out beyond the Joppa area. Fun game now that I have a grasp on how to play!

I guess, from what little reading I did about it, it’s one of the few forms the librarian can spawn with and it’s permanent. I might be able to throw an EMP grenade but that seems risky. I’m sure I could ignore the librarian altogether, but it kinda bummed me out.
