Internship
It was February 2025, I was a medtech intern then and it was the second half of my internship, so I got deployed to veterans QC, and my first schedule was a night shift. I already heard some horror stories here even before I became an intern because I regularly took my grandparents for their check-ups, so I kind of already knew the ins and outs even before I started my internship here.
As I've said, I was a medtech intern, so the lab was upstairs, but before you get there, you have to pass through many hallways with windows, even upstairs. I’m not really easily scared; in fact, I’m pretty brave, but the overall ambiance is creepy (duh, it's an old veteran hospital), and I have a really strong gut feeling that certain spots have ghosts.
So here we go, around 2:50 am, I was doing ward rounds for blood extraction in the pulmonary ward. I passed through this hallway (pic) because I had no choice; at the end, when you take a left turn, that's the ward. Then I got startled because I heard someone whistling at me from outside the window, and when I looked, someone was peeking.
I thought maybe it was a person or someone working outside the building, but it didn't make sense because first, it was a strange hour, and second, why were they whistling at me when I didn't even know them? At first, I couldn't make out the face, so I got a little closer to the window, and when I saw, it looked like they had rotten wounds and were wearing a cap/beret (I don't know, just something military-style), so I just hurried my walk.
After I got the sample from the patient, I went up to the lab and told them what happened, but the staff there seemed used to it, though they believed me because they also had experiences.
