humidity question

hi y'all. first time rosy boa keeper here. my 11 month old girl arrives this Wednesday so I'm trying to make everything perfect for her! I know how important humidity is for a rosy boa, so I bought a small little dehumidifier for the room, but it only does so much. we've been in a high humidity heatwave lately and I'm concerned

RH for the room with her enclosure is around 50 to 60% on a median day in the warm months. I know this isn't ideal, so I got ventilation fans for her mesh top enclosure that could run basically whenever it's not too cold. I've heard that keeping the air moving helps so I'm hoping the fan goes a long way to keeping her safe. that said, I'm wondering if I should just bite the bullet and spend another $100 to $200 on a larger dehumidifier. I really don't want to because I've already far exceeded my budget 😅 but the rosy's safety is paramount so I will if I must

thoughts and tips appreciated!

first time snake keeper with a lot of questions!

hi all! after a long process of research and decision making, I've decided to make my first reptile pet a rosy boa! I picked out a beautiful girl who is just over 11 months old. I've already learned the basics as far as temperature control and care goes, but I have a few questions about some things that I'd like to be more confident on before she arrives next week!

  1. the breeder said she is being fed "large pinkies." I've looked to Dubia to order feeders and I only see pinkies without an option for large or small, etc. and I've seen people on this sub say that fuzzies might be better for a rosy around her age. do you think it'd be better to stick to the pinkies or get fuzzies instead?

  2. I decided to go with the Herpstat 2 Spyderweb for a thermostat because the room she'll be staying in can sometimes get a little warm, and I wanted to make use of a dual probed thermostat that can heat the warm side and cool the cool side, as necessary. however, I've heard mixed information on where exactly to put the probes, particularly on the warm side. I've heard that it can be good to suspend the probe beneath the heat source by a few inches and use a temperature gun to check the basking stone's temp and adjust as necessary. what are y'all's thoughts on this? my heat element is an Arcadia DHP if it matters c:

  3. I really want to develop a close bond of trust with my rosy. I know they don't feel "love" like mammals do, but I'd still like to help her feel safe enough to climb on me and explore my space. that said, I've heard varying instructions on how long to give a new rosy boa before attempting to interact. since she is eating weekly, my plan was to let her be for around 6 days, feed her, then leave her be until around day 10 where I would ease into some choice based handling. does this sound feasible?

ultimately I am very patient and I want to give her the best life possible. I know that rosies can live multiple decades and I'd love to make the most of every bit of it. I've done my best to research things and get the very best equipment possible (even tho my savings account is hurting now lol) but these things I've seen a lot of conflicting information about so I am nervous! please help me gain confidence before she arrives.

I promise to post pictures once she's settled in! thank you for your help
