Old guy lacing up for the first time in decades.
Hi everyone, hope you’re all doing well. Like the title says, I’m old (48) I played travel and school hockey in HS but haven’t played more than pick up hockey since 2003. All my gear is ancient and I’ve been told my old Jofa helmet isn’t allowed in the tournament I signed up for. So…..
What’s the deal with these new helmets and their “expiration dates” do men’s rec leagues really care about stuff like that? I’ve been looking at the used market and everything affordable is expired.
If the used market is a no go what’s a decent recommendation?
I used to wear the old Gretzky style helmet because of how bad I sweat and the fact that I have a huge head (7 3/4 ball cap) what’s something cheap but breathable, protection is a secondary concern but obviously I don’t want to get CTE from 1 puck to the dome but comfort is my number 1
