It’s simply absurd how the “Very Hard” difficulty destroys everything that’s good about the gameplay. Suddenly, what was an almost perfect simulation of tennis tactics turns into a game where your opponent hits winners from every part of the court and from every body position; the tactical value of slices—which is perfect up to “Hard” difficulty—vanishes into thin air as opponents keep smashing like crazy against low, deep, and fast slices; stats become virtually useless because of opponents with 60 SPD who run everywhere without ever tiring; and, finally, input reading becomes downright embarrassing. I want to clarify that the problem isn’t winning (I haven’t lost a match in three days), but having fun. Sorry for the rant about a game from 15 years ago, but I really believed in it…
