Before anything else, I'd like to be transparent. I've had this Reddit account for about two years, but I've mostly been a reader and have never really been active, so I don't have much karma. This is actually my first time making a post like this because this situation genuinely touched me and I felt I had to try to help.
I'm posting this on behalf of someone I know because I truly believe this could happen to anyone.
His name is Rui, he's 33 years old, and for the past five years he worked hard to keep up with his car loan and credit card payments. He managed to stay afloat through a lot of sacrifice, but after losing his job, everything quickly fell apart.
He's now facing aggressive debt collection, with a total debt of around €27,000. However, he isn't asking anyone to pay off all of his debt. His goal is to raise €4,000 so he can stop the immediate collection actions, renegotiate his payments, and buy himself enough time to find a new job.
He's actively looking for work and is willing to do any honest job. He doesn't want to live on donations—he simply needs a chance to get back on his feet.
The reason I'm sharing this is because I honestly believe this kind of situation could happen to any of us. If I were the one struggling like this, I would hope someone would be willing to help me too. That's why I decided to make this post.
