Off-season update on the drops you quote IRL

So my wife and I are both keen listeners of the pod and we find ourselves quoting drops. Most frequent ones in rotation right now:

  • No doubt. No doubt. No doubt about it.
  • I am a great guy. I am actually a great guy.

What are your favorite ones? This has got to be an actual drop. I also keep using "GC. GC." but this is not a drop AFAIK.

(This does have the downside that you get weird looks when in a group that has no idea what you are quoting, but hey, their loss.)

The Rams glaze is out of control

Going to drop a disclaimer first: I am a Seahawks fan and I loathe the rams. I can admit though that they are a well run organization and McVay is a damn fine coach.

BUT.

Here are their past five seasons:

  • 2025 (12-5): Finished tied for the NFC West lead. Loss in the NFC Championship Game vs a division rival.
  • 2024 (10-7): Divisional round exit.
  • 2023 (10-7): Wild Card round exit.
  • 2022 (5-12): McVay's worst season.
  • 2021 (12-5): Won Super Bowl.

With the amount of glaze they seem to be getting, you would think they are the 2001-2004 Pats. Yet three out of the past five seasons are mediocre.

The common thread in all their glaze is this - it is assumed that every one of their bets is going to work out. Whereas every other team's bets are analyzed with more skepticism, as it should be. Hedging this much on Stafford's back staying healthy is a huge fucking gamble. Paying this much for a single player is a strategy, but it is a damn high risk move. If Garrett has a season ending injury, you sold the farm for the next three years for basically nothing.

The reason why we love Marc

Lance Zierlein mentioned it casually during the face-off that "people seem to love Marc" and I agree. Like you can be a fan of any of the other heroes but Marc generates a different feeling with the audience.

I think this screenshot of Marc's reaction when the Browns draft Manziel perfectly captures it. An almost child-like innocence and naivete, willing to fall in love and just believe. This is what being a sports fan is all about. The fact that he repeatedly does this while the Browns emotionally flog him just makes Marc's story a greek tragedy whose main character you can't help but love.
