taking bsci 1510 w/lab and human anatomy & phys (bsci 2101) w/lab in the same semester?

is it manageable or hell? would orgo and bio w labs be a better combo than human anatomy&phys and bio w labs?

Best orgs to join??

Hi, hope you guys are doing well.

I was wondering if you guys could chime in on your best vandy org recommendations? I feel like freshman yr I didn't join some of the most exciting orgs, and I want to change that this year. I've noticed some orgs on campus "sound cool", but they end up being very dead clubs. And then some orgs that you didn't think sounded exciting, end up having cool perks like international/national trips and cool conferences and other experiences like that.

Please share below! Also don't worry about my interests, I'm open to anything and everything :) thanks!

Engineering for the Money??

Hi I hope everyone’s is doing well. Ive recently been considering switching career paths after my freshman year of college and I need advice.

After my freshman year, i dropped premed. Although I’m very interested in science and medicine, I realized I didnt want to go to school for such a long time. Especially as a first gen, low income student and the eldest immigrant daughter (lol), i really value financial stability.

Now I need to pick another major since the one I have currently will not get me any kind of money after college. I was thinking about engineering.

I know engineers make good money after college and it is one of the strongest bachelors degrees you could get (i want to work after undergrad asap). I was thinking about chemical engineering.

My big dilemma though, is that I have **no** passion for math, physics, building stuff. If I got an engineering degree Id want to work in consulting or like biotech or regulatory affairs. I know I can get these jobs with an engineering degree but I also know that getting trying to **get** this degree will be actual torture. I also have to study a lot, and I think this will just be such a big problem in engineering while trying to balance so many hard STEM Classes.

I also thought about double majoring in business and biology (since I love bio and medicine), but I know this combo is not as safe as chemical engineering. And it would also likely limit me in all the possibilities of jobs I could pursue after college.

P.S. i also thought about nursing, especially since I love to care for people and i could still learn subjects I love like medical science and anatomy, but my college doesn’t have a nursing major. I value the school I go to and dont want to leave, especially as a first gen low income student, I think the name will take me far.

So, would you pursue engineering if you were in my position? I appreciate all the advice.

Do I drop out of my college to pursue nursing at CC or finish college and go to CC after?

Hi. To be honest, this post is going to be all over the place because I have been thinking about this issue so much, but I really hope at least one person can hear me out and help me.

For my entire life, I was premed and wanted to become a doctor. Medicine was all I’ve dreamed of since I was six years old. After applying to colleges during my senior year of high school, I was accepted and able to attend a prestigious T20! They have a great premed program and I was so excited.

Fast forward, I have now completed my freshman year of college. Although I started college thinking i was going to become a doctor, I realized I dont think I want to anymore. I have many, many reasons for this decision. But to sum it up, I realized that some of my reasons for becoming a doctor are more about social prestige and feeling like I “did it” as a first-gen, low income student, and I didn’t want to put myself through so much anxiety and stress (especially financial stress) for the next 10-12 years. Even though I still love caring to people, I dont think i have the dedication to go through so, so much for so long.

Additionally, this summer, I started working as a CNA and I love my job. I realised that nursing might be a good path for me since I can still care for people, learn healthcare, but not have to go through the grueling process of becoming a doctor. Nursing is also a very flexible career, so Im not stuck in one specialty.

However, my dilemma is that my college does not offer a BSN nursing program. Im genuinely so lost because I love my school and Im so proud to attend this school, especially as a first gen, low income student. I know the name brand for this school can carry me. I dont want to leave it. But I also recognize that its probably also really stupid to pursue a degree that I dont want to use because of the schools name.

I was thinking I could pursue a biology degree at my T20 college, find a job in industry/pharma/biotech/healthcare corporate or consulting, and then i could always go back to community college for a 2 yr ADN program or get into an accelerated BSN program and pursue nursing. Or, I could drop out of my t20 and transfer to my CC and pursue my ADN. This way I could still receive the Federal Pell Grant from FAFSA

I really need help. I dont know what to choose and I feel so lost. Im still coping with the fact that I dont want to be a doctor, since thats all ive ever wanted to do but I guess its not a life meant for me. I just want to be financially stable, especially since I really want to move out of my parents house sooner rather than later.

If you need any more info to give advice, pls comment below! Im willing to share.
