Is Math 1200 with Professor Karadag Bad
I was looking at his rate my professor and it looks very high with a moderate difficulty rating. But it’s weird that all the positive reviews have a lot of dislikes

Any white male 1500 SAT competitive public school kid. High rigor courses 3.9/4.7 with lots of APs 5s etc. I’ll take SAT again but got 1500 3x. Would love HOD but counselor advising against and suggesting not submit scores. Strong ECs and leadership (class president/schoolwide for 2 years) with impact and presentations at a couple of stem conferences / part time job for 4 years.
Is Vandy ED possible?
Hi everyone, I really wanna ED1 to Vanderbilt. I moved states going into my junior year so my ECs are a little wonky.
My stats are: 4.0 gpa unweighted (most grades range from 97-100 with my lowest grade being a 93 in freshman year English), will have taken 11 APs by graduation, 1320 SAT score (will go test opt + retake in august).
My ECs from my old school (9th and 10th grade) are: FCA 2 yrs (outreach head sophomore year), team impact 10th grade (outreach head and cofounder), YoungLife 2 yrs (volunteer with a bunch of service hours helping out the organization), Purple Star Club 2 years, sophomore cabinet, global scholars 10th grade, competitive dancer and dance teacher in 9th grade, fast food job 10th grade, babysitting 9th and 10th grade.
My ECs at my new school (11th and 12th grade) are: DECA 11th and 12th grade (leadership 12th grade), NHS 12th grade, YoungLife 11th and 12th, Varsity Dance Team 12th grade, Hostess job 11th and 12th grade, and maybe FCA 12th grade.
awards:
-DECA state qualifier and district champion
-College board national recognition
-celebration of excellence (student of the year type award from my old school)
-student of the month (from my new school), -certificate in sales.
I plan on majoring in HOD or Econ. Please chance me/share your input
Hi! Can you give me feedback on my schedule, I want to major in math but on the pre-med track. I am also doing Army ROTC.
Literally all my friends have gotten theirs from their colleges when is our turn 😢
I applied for a free score sent earlier in June, and the College Board showed that they've already sent my 2024 and 2025 scores to Vanderbilt. However, I seem to have no way of confirming whether or not Vanderbilt has received these credits, as I've yet to see anything on my degree audit. Does anyone know where I can check to see if Vandy has received my AP scores? Thanks!
Update: I got all of my past scores now in the External tab in Academic Records (2024, 2025, 2026 AP scores and my SAT). But it doesn't seem that any of these credits are reflected in my degree audit. Do I just need to give it more time, or are they just not giving me anything? 😭
Hey y'all, does anyone know Professor Sousa? I can't find anything on rate my professor. If I dropped down from MATH 1300 (Sean McAfee) to 1200, I would have her. The discussion is still Staff, so I won't know who it will be yet.
So I’m still on the transfer waitlist, and I had pretty much given up hope until yesterday when I got an email telling me to confirm by going into my admissions portal no later than midnight on July 5 that I still want to remain on the waitlist. The email also said, “your demonstrated interest may be an important factor if we make offers of admission from the transfer waitlist.”
So I did immediately confirm in the portal that I want to remain on the waitlist, and when I did, I noticed that under the financial aid tab, I have a specific financial aid counselor assigned. I’m pretty sure that wasn’t the case last time I looked, but maybe it was.
Does anybody know what getting an email like that might mean this late in the summer? Also, does it mean anything in terms of admissions to have a FA counselor assigned in the portal?
Thanks.
I am an incoming freshman, and I made a huge mistake registering for MATH 1300 as an econ major. I had no clue that most econ majors took MATH 1200, and the only reason why I registered for MATH 1300 is that my pre-major advisor said that MATH 1300 is recommended if I want to conduct econ research. Well, I did not know that it was quantitative-based, and I have no interest in studying any sort of CS.
The problem is that I intend to pursue a pre-law track and would need to keep my GPA up for that. I could very well graduate with MATH 1200/1201, but I fear it is a bit too late to register for that since I would need to drop one of my classes, and the discussion section doesn't line up with my schedule. I am quite worried about the difficulty. As I was browsing Reddit, I've heard how insanely difficult MATH 1300/1301 was compared to 1200. I'm trying to preserve my GPA as much as possible... Any advice? Please and thank you sooo much guys!
I would like to find some cool places *very close* to the TriStar Centennial Medical Center for company to stay. Boutique hotels, anything funkier than the usual Marriott or whatever. Dates are July 23-26. Thank you in advance!
Echoing previous posts on here -- do not stay at the BroadView.
I too saw these posts and ended up living there just because it was the cheapest option for someone living alone and wanted to be close to school. Complaints I often saw were that it was small / expensive for what it is, and the parking is a bit of a walk away. These were all things I thought I could deal with. Below are complaints I did not hear about but severely impacted my year living there.
The management is so rude for no reason -- they're vicious and hungry like you owe them for staying there. Maintenance takes forever.
The apartment is literally a cardboard box. The construction of the building is new but awful quality. So for months I heard every single move my upstairs neighbor made. Like, exactly where in the they were stepping, what they were doing, whether they were vacuuming etc.
Lastly, they say it's rent per month, but actually they charge you full month's rent for the last month you stay (even if your lease is over before the end of the month), so you're losing out.
And you think because its Vandy affiliated they'd be nicer/more benevolent -- but they're so much worse than any other apartment building management I've encountered in Nashville.
I recently received an invitation for an on-site visit for a staff position after going through multiple interview rounds. The PI and the Outreach and Communications Manager mentioned that it isn't a formal interview, so I was curious about what that usually means. Does it typically indicate that you're one of the final candidates, or is it still part of the evaluation process?
I was also wondering what the on-site visit is usually like. What does the day typically involve? Are there meetings with the PI and lab members, a lab tour, or anything else I should expect? I'd really appreciate any insights from any of you. Thanks so much!
Incoming freshman
I took calc 2 in high school but want to retake that course kind of and start off with 1301 at Vandy. I just saw another post making the 1300s pathway look horrible, should I be dropping and switching to math 1201?
What the title says.
Obviously UT is a huge public university that has a major focus in engineering, so they have plenty of industry connections and opportunities there albeit more stress and competition to get said connections and opportunities. For Vanderbilt, as a small private uni, the draw would be it being easier to join engineering orgs and make connections since the engineering department is small (although growing due to Vanderbilt pushing funding to expand it) and the "easier" course load and work life balance Vanderbilt has a reputation of.
I guess the actual question would be how much the overall strength of the engineering department and location plays into a successful career versus simply gaining experience and the overall brand of a school that could possible open up more doors. I have been getting mixed advice from family and friends for where I should go, so I was wondering if I could get some opinions. Vanderbilt cost of attendance would be 18k for the first year and around the same for the following years, and UT is in-state.
I know Vanderbilt doesn’t allow freshman to park on campus but theoretically any place near commons where I could park my car overnight? I contacted Vanderbilt and they suggested the Loews hotel. The distance from commons isn’t bad but I was wondering if there was any place closer. I only need my car since I plan on going back home on weekends since it’s really close.
Also how safe is Nashville for leaving my car overnight? I’ve never been to Nashville so I honestly have no clue about how it is.
Hi, what are some of the best clubs for engineering and buisness at vandy? What are the best things to do to prep for the competitive ones?
Had couple questions regarding this process:
I was most interested in VIC, CCG, FDP, and Vandy SCNO. Anyone able to share more info on the process and expected technical prep timeline?
There is a guy I have been dating who tells me he went to Vanderbilt Law school. He supposedly did a Dual Degree: J.D./M.Div and graduated in 2020.
I am questioning the validity of this for a few reasons.
I have never seen any of his diplomas
He said he did practice law but stopped due to some personal reasons, but I have never been able to find any records of him being a lawyer in the database.
He has lied to me a few things already, and I do not know the extent of his lies, and I want to know what I am dealing with.
His linkedin has 0 information about Vanderbilt. The only thing that semi checks out his Bachelors degree is that he said he had 3 majors but is showing only 2 (History and Political science, no mention of environmental science as he claimed he had) He says he's currently in the MBA program and will be done this year, but he hasn't even STARTED it. The only "legal" stuff he has is he worked as a legal specialist for a year for someone.
Could someone help me find out the truth? Is it possible to look up the records, or do you need to be an alumni to be able to do so ?
