I'm worried that with Bill 98 passed, TTC will see sweeping service cuts...
Bill 98 gives MTO and the province sweeping final authority over transit costs, funding, routes, and frequencies. A car-brained province who notoriously hates Toronto now has the final say over Toronto's transit system.
TTC is barely surviving and avoiding a transit death spiral. The saving grace of TTC is its coverage even into smaller suburban areas of Toronto and its headways. With Bill 98 passed I am worried that Ford is going to start cutting frequencies, slashing lesser travelled routes, and cutting subways from 4 minute headways. That and we start seeing $4 fares.
We know Ford hates Toronto and wants to hurt us. There is no other explanation. With the TTC, the City's lifeline, at his greasy fingertips, it's only a matter of time before we see cutbacks. Buses along major corridors will start running every 30 minutes, the subway every 12, 900 express services will be suspended, and fares will be $4. We'll be like every other shitty American transit system.
Something needs to be done. What else can we do except email our representatives? Because it seems Ford doesn't care what the public thinks
