One of the best parts about 4tran culture is that we are very militantly pro-DIY-HRT. It's one of the things the mainstream rejects and fearmongers about (both for trans women and trans men, but especially for the latter), and something that most trans people need at this point. Getting people to not complacently wait and be told they're valid, but actually helping people to get HRT, is one of my favorite parts of the community and what originally drew me to it back in late 2023. While the edgy memes and culture around those are fun too, with the massive audience here, we can help a TON of people!

Many trans spaces teach so many trans people learned helplessness, not just in DIY but also when (ramble) ^(telling trans guys to stay with their straight bfs or call themselves lesbian or take feminizing birth control and have "period pride" instead of enough T to suppress periods, when telling trans girls to love their genitalia, not try to pass, and not voice train, and when telling nonbinary people that they're so so valid if they don't transition far more than they actually support NB transition.) 4tran has many many issues, but it cutting through that helped lots of us, and it's a very important part of the culture to keep alive as it gets introduced to many people.

And as a mod of this sub, I will certify that we will not silence any discussion that's not blatantly against Reddit TOS. (Direct testosterone sources are basically the only one, we will need to remove those, but that's it. There are other spaces, and indirect stuff like diyhrt.info is great.)

transmedicalists and the mainstream say that it's defined as "thinking that being trans = having dysphoria". this new definition is incorrect both historically and now, it's always been about gatekeeping hrt. transmedicalists use it as a smokescreen to evade criticism of what's actually messed up about the ideology, and mainstream anti-diy people call 4tranners it to evade criticism for fearmongering about hrt
